If the bricks show damage, they are bound to crack soon. Still no immediate harm but replace then as soon as you can or for sure during the summer cleaning. Most stove are simple and easy to change the bricks as you simply lift out and then set the new one back in. Some will replace all the bricks at the same time but usually that is not required. They are cheap and easy to replace so just do it!

Will winter ever release its grip? Our snow is trying to change to freezing rain or just rain but certainly not much melting going on yet.

Rain or snow forecast for every day this week but at least several days are supposed to be warm.

VERY light snow just starting that was supposed to be here at noon.
    2-4" went to 3-6, then 2-5, and now 1-4".
    We'll see.

I'm spreading mulch. Rain has subsided but temp is stubborn and stuck at 45 with skies brightening. Nothing I say is serious yooperdave other than my brick dilemma. Things are good....work hard....stay healthy....hoard wood!

Well, 19.5" of snow last Wednesday Thursday and Friday....with 50 - 60 mph gusts. Yard was clear, and had ridden my bike last weekend. Now have 3 to 4 ft banks around house...ft and a half level in the yard, and 4 ft piles where I pushed snow on Thursday and Friday. 16* for overnite low last night, so still burning overnite fires. But, it has been upper 30's to low 40's during the day. Welcome to Spring in SD!

Haven't had a fire in awhile, maybe a night or two last week. Might run the pellet stove during the a.m. for a short bit, enough solar gain these days. Snow finally gone besides for a few small piles and a bit in the woods yet.

This pretty much sums it up. Except you can't see the 20mph East wind that's really damp & cold. Perfect spring day.:headbang: 20190414_172125.jpg 20190414_172212.jpg

40 and 76. Raining and raw today. It was a nice weekend but it cooled off enough for a fire yesterday evening and I just reloaded with a few bricks and a big ugly to get us to afternoon when it’s supposed to be close to 60 but wet and windy. Will probably need a fire every night this week. Our snow is almost gone, except the woods and a few shady spots and it’ll be a few days yet until I can get to the box blade. We did get quite a bit of yard work in over the weekend finally.
    Happy tax day! :picard:

Started the stove back up last night, first fire in at least a week. Will load again here in a few, light snow crystals coming down, high of 45 today and 30 tonight. 72 inside right now.

Starting out with 14 this morning. And...… I can see sunshine! Yup! Wonder just how long that'll last?

Guessers say we should hit 50 today.

Just about the same thing here today, Dave, except it was 28 when I woke up.
Now, the wait for the snow to melt begins......again.

So how much did you end up with? We only got a couple inches. Plenty of it still left too. Should be gone by night.

Forcasters earlieer said rain every day this week but they backed off for today. It is beautifully sunny out there even if it is chilly. Supposed to get up around 50 then rain for the next 3 days. First we have to get rid of yesterday's snow... I hope it is the last for this season.

Sorry for the late response Dennis, been gone all day.
We ended up with about 5" again. Most of it gone by the time I got home around 4:45. Nice sunny, 50 degree day will do that. :dex:
