Last weekends haul led to the rail rack getting filled on Sunday, got rained out when I went to empty trailer-It took all that was loaded in the truck to complete the rack-and a good log dog
Got started pretty early this morning and aside from getting the weed eating done first, it took all day so I wont likely be mowing this weekend-80% chance of pretty good storms tomorrow, 80 yesterday, nice and warm today and temps to get cold again with lows in high 30’s Mon and Tues-Maybe it will stunt the grass a bit?
Total haul last weekend was @ 1.25 cord-When dealing with the big rounds, I must admit its a good work out regardless of splitting preference and I dont see the big ones ending anytime soon-it def hits other muscle groups rolling, twisting and pushing...May help my golf swing So the full backside is underway-What were you folks looking for?
Sir Backwoods Savage said something about it being “offset” so I made sure to get a couple views of it so he could point out what that means. Looks like a regular design of splitter to me? My auto return is not working smoothly, otherwise its pretty strong, just slow. Absent pulling out the manual, is there an adjustment to get that working smo0thly again? It works but has to be twisted a lil left and held a but and let off lightly to get it to auto return...Any help would be appreciated and I hope all are well

It looks like your splits are smaller than what I use, at least a little bit smaller? Any reason other than than size works best for you? I have a variety of sizes, but have plenty of really big splits I use for overnighters or when it's really cold.... Maybe I should be splitting smaller... ? Just curious... Mark
Many/most valves have an adjustment on the detent...some are under a cap...you'll prolly need to get your manual out to see where yours is exactly...
I’m trying to mix them up Fanatical1 but the truth is as I’m playing catch up I’m doing prob a lil more smaller ones just to enhance drying-I’m not seeing a lot of ash, today I did split some maple and gonna tell my logging buddy to load me up with red oak for a bit as I can dry it in one year—-I’m close to getting all set for ‘19-‘20 winter and then all will be good-I have a cord of 4 yo red oak to start next season with—-we burn no wet wood! You got that right for sure Ashwatcher ! Looking good as always! How long is your rail pile? I have a friend who burns and i want to build him a shed like yours. He has a hodge podge of piles/mounds covered with an assortment of tarps etc. Trying to get him on a 3 yr plan and better organized.
36’ x 4’ high x avg of 18” splits buZZsaw BRAD -1.68 cord with a lil overhang on each end-gonna try and set up at least one more this summer-Just remember its all about the air, elevation and southern exposure...the backside of my shed gets the evening sun...the bottom is expanded metal, the ends are shadow boarded into the prevailing wind...Stacks ideally should be a minimum of 8” off the ground where practical...Hoard on my friend
Ashwatcher, does your splitter have an "Energy" control on it? I looked at our CC splitter and it does. According to the manufacturer the detent release is hydraulically activated and can't be adjusted. Great looking place and firewood setup. Your stacking skills are way ahead of mine. I noticed the tarp by the splitter to help with the clean up. I used a tarp here, but it rains so much I always got water puddled on it. Found a cheap canvas painters drop cloth at Harbor Freight and now use that to catch the debris when splitting. What I was referring to was that the beam is not centered. Just caught my eye. I can understand whey they made it like that to acommadate the engine. Just looks a bit odd but am sure it does not bother the function of the machine.
You have any trouble with groundhawgs digging under your shed there? They'd tear me a new one if I had an elevated shed like that here...
No sir. Same contractor grade black plastic underneath since 2010. Now ground moles in my yard is another story
pop a hole in the tunnels here and there and drop in a mothball Ashwatcher They hate the smell. Does your pooch hunt them?
