Fought a fuel problem and finally got the wood hauler going again. Got out for a little saw time this evening. Not quite the load I would cut on a weekend cut, but no bad for after work. All Ash.
Nice! I got a load tonight too...load of very wet red oak...heavy! Got the ole Superduty squattin a lil! Your fuel issue...wasn't the fuel pump relay, was it? Was (is) a common issue on that vintage truck...

My escapades started with thinking the pump in the tank was bad. Dropped the tank and it was bad enough that I thought I would replace the tank and the pump plus had a new filler tube that I had bought awhile back. That did not fix it so I replaced the high pressure pump as well. No dice, new fuel pump relay and found some corrosion and broken connecter at the eec relay. Still not there. Changed the fuel pressure regulator, nope. Started tracing wires and putting juice directly to the pumps and checking pressure. Dropped the tank back down and nylon line had kinked, thought I had it then. Nope....final culprit, brand new high pressure pump was a dud.
$462 dollars and 42 hours later. at least you know it's good now with all the new parts. I do hear of dud electrical parts more often than I've ever heard of them happening in the past.

Keep word here is "shouldn't".....she went down on me again yesterday evening. It is the second new pump that is only working intermittently I am almost positive. I will report back once confirmed.
Very frustrating I have had many problems with bad electrical parts when are we going to wake up and start building them here again the parts from mexico are the worst china not far behind
Delphi pump......I went to the farm where it went down to try some starting fluid to make sure it was a fuel problem again. No need, I heard the high pressure pump go and it started. Headed out to get it home and she died again and the pump only runs intermittent. Pulled back with the tractor and I pick up a Bosch pump which is what came on it from the factory hopefully better performance, fingers crossed.
