image.jpeg Well, ''april showers bring may flowers'', we'll see, lol. Here in the PNW its finally living up to its reputation as X amount of rain. I see by the 10 day weather its supposed to rain every day. GOOD, its about time, last year was so dry our yard was almost down to bare dirt. So far i've mowed the yard 2 times and its growing about 3'' a week. It rained pretty steady today, so, i put on the old yellow rain coat, and headed outside to stack wood in the woodshed. Loved it! It was cool, but not cold, i had some rubber gloves on, with the thin brown cotton gloves on inside, just because it seemed like a good idea. I just wore jeans instead of rain pants. The dog was out there with me most of the time, and we both enjoyed it, i think. lol.

Being retired is great, i pick and choose when i want to split, stack, etc. I've about got the woodshed full and i'll start on the south end where i have a pallet set at the end of it, and i'll load that up nice and full, then i'll eventually cover it, and then this summer keep it uncovered the whole summer. To me anyway, its turning out to be the beginning of a great spring, the frogs are croaking up a storm about 2 AM when i take the dog out. The sky is super clear, the stars are really bright, and its great to be able to enjoy it all as much as i do. I'll be doing the same thing tomorrow, rain or shine, don't matter to me. I've also got some nice rounds i'm thinking about slabbing. Since I took this picture, I've added more wood to
It and split more of it,so, I've got enough wood to keep me from being bored for a while.

I’m planning on stacking in the shed tomorrow as well. Rain won’t stop that. Yard is just starting to green up, but you’re right, it got hit hard last year. [IMG]

Sounds like all us PNW Guys are finding good firewood right now. Seems like everyone I know in the greater Tacoma area is or is getting ready to take trees down.

I'm up near Snohomish and opted for hauling cherry from Leavenworth. Great deals over there if you want to bother. But I also have a large DF tree I need to cut this summer. I am good for awhile.

Things have really changed in the PNW in the past 8 days. LOT's of rain, 5.5'' on the santiam pass the other day. Some roads pretty badly damaged by flooding, shoulder rock washed away and some roads actually cut totally across by high water. A few slides reported, but, nothing of any size. They say the highest water is yet to come when the rivers start cresting. But, there's a silver lining to all this, i was able to mow my yard during a slight break in the weather yesterday. Fired up the mower when i saw some blue sky, and a little sun. Set the mower at its 2nd highest setting, and took off. Worked pretty good, people driving by the house were looking like, WHAT?? lol. Got it done, now if it slows down raining a little today, i'll get on the back yard, Friday is supposed to be one day that it won't be raining, supposedly, so if not today, friday. Another good thing, i've been able to catch up on my saw filing, out to the shop this morning at 4:20 AM. Got the good old 026 all ready to go. Starting off to be a good day.

On the North end of the island its been a very dry spring ,February only 30% of our normal rainfall , March only 10% of the normal rainfall , and April has been dry so far and the Salal in places has turned brown from lack of water .Won't be doing any wood gathering till the fall as I'm still pretty far ahead .

I spent some time splitting some wood by hand yesterday, in between rain drops, lol. Got a lot of it split, but, now i have to stack it, did cover it before last night, good thing, we're back to more rain. The one day, Friday, was not supposed to rain, now they changed that to more rain until the 19th i believe it is. Then, we'll supposedly start getting some mid 60's temps, and some sun. Hay, as long as it causes more timber to grow, and makes more firewood, I'm all in!! Still have a pretty nice pile out back that needs splitting as well, but, i'll probably use the splitter on that. Put that back there on purpose, just so i'd have some thing to do this spring/summer.
