I paid $175 for a cord of cherry.... Precut. But I would trade that ANYTIME at $400 for 12 cords of do it yourself poplar many times over. Wood snobbery is silly and expensive.

I wanted to finish today but I was whooped. I also took a pic of it at my moms farm. Got about 2 cords split so far.

084F0A3E-6E77-428C-874A-EA12AE603F86.jpeg Load 7 out this morning. That makes 14 cords from those original piles. He has since thrown in some other wood, a mix of hardwood for free. That should be at least 2 more cords

Was the person wanting the poplar going to burn it inside or out? I have no problem burning it in the house, but it does "pop" quite a bit and it usually isn't a preferred wood with all our hardwood options. Was your wife running the hot chocolate 15K in Philly? My wife ran that and I was also watching the kids.

I dunno why folks don't like the pop sound. It burns hot, is cheaper, and provides a great atmosphere for sex. What's not to like??

I ran tulip poplar all winter in my stove. Not one pop. May be the regional differences in what constitutes poplar.
