    Hello Lousyweather,
In your opinion would it be ok to upgrade to the newer burn pot on my Advance 2 should bolt on with a new gasket and flame guide?

    Thx

Give me a part number and I can get you a better idea. Why change it out? Is the old one warped or holed?

ok- now I am at work! (Sunday, anyone?) 1-10-00675 appears to be the current burnpot for this unit. Don't forget to get burnpot gaskets as well when you get the burnpot (1-00-07381). A new burnpot will cost you a bit over $200 or so, gaskets not too pricey. Thats why I asked why replace the burnpot if its not compromised. You'll also need to change out the igniter and cradle to the new burnpot (can use the old stuff), but also you run into jeopardy pinching wires and stuff, then shorting out the igniter and burning out the triac on the board, etc......

Well thx for your time and expertise, i seen somewhere on the board that Bob (i think) had mentioned he upgraded a burnpot in order to get the flame out away from the back wall. And also he mentioned that it would get more air into the pot, along with the "gummy fix" add on. A buddy of mine bought an Advance in 2014, i believe it was almost the end of the model run. I've done some cleaning on his and i noticed the newer pot and the additional air into his pot and i thought maybe i could update mine as well.
As far as i can tell there is no warping or and holes in my pot but i have the flame guide movement in which i have to scrape every few days. My auger is worn at the tip down to a knife blade, so i'm definitely going to replace the auger. getting back to the flame guide i noticed his has 2 notches in the back of his, which i assume directs the flame forward. So if i stay with my original burnpot can i at least change to the notched flame guide? Hope i described why i am trying to upgrade.
Sorry for the small storybook version.

    Thx Cliff

The new flame guide will work as a flame guide regardless of the fact that you have an old or new burnpot

OK after longer testing, larger gear does throw more heat, but flames too tall, sometimes, and stove gets dirtier faster, even with the feed rate set down to 2-2.5.In room mode manual, too many pellets for my liking, when flame is low(maintenance mode). This time of year i use room mode manual a lot,so I put smaller gear back on.It might be good dead of winter, for max heat, but just not needed in my small cabin. Also, could be just fine at lower altitudes.I think this is the end of my testing stuff, for the winter, lol.
