So, we took the kids on an awesome spring break trip to the Dominican Republic last week. Punta Cana was great! I had to take a few pix of trees for you guys & gals. But, I couldn't help but wonder if there is any firewood value there. Not that it gets cold, but a hoarders gotta wonder. Lol
Well I’m just a northerner but I think Palms aren’t too good. It’ll be interesting to see what our more southern members say. I thought palms were just stringy vegetation inside but,,,,,,,,,,,,,I know nuthin.
There's very little firewood value there as palm aren't really "trees". Course fires are mostly for cooking in the tropics so how many BTU do you need to make supper ? Hoarding happens. Palms aren't native to the Caribbean either. Coconuts were used as a rather portable source of water by Spanish and Portuguese tourists several hundred years ago. So it would be to their benefit if the local flora were cut down and replaced with coconut palms for a replenishing source of coconuts. Among other necessities and money making endeavors.
I’m guessing it’s not worth transporting back to the states. You must be a better hoarder than me. I’m going to Jamacia in a couple weeks, I don’t plan on thinking about hoarding for 1 second!
I just built a house in the Philippines & we used a lot of Coco Lumber mostly for scaffolding it seemed to be a fairly hard wood & when we were BBQing we used Coco Lumber Charcoal. It burned a little hot than the regular Hardwood Lump Charcoal I am used to but it did the job
We went over during the Christmas Holidays . I had some property over there for about 12 years & finally built a house on it
