Informed my “current” employer 6 months ago that I was moving 200 miles away. I was then asked about a month later, if I would be interested in starting a branch for them in my new area. They have not communicated with me much, other than an occasional “how’s the move going ??” Well, today I had a meeting with the owner, VP, and the controllers..(Friday is my last day at this branch)..... They want me to have way more responsibility, no guarantees on hours, and for the same hourly pay as now... which is still my starting wage from 1-1/2 years ago.. I think it’s time to part ways. Never been too impressed with their company morals anyways.
I worked two years on a promise of a 30-50% wage increase in two years. When the time came new management ( Board of Directors did some rather extensive upper management changes in the meantime ) tendered 10% . I said thanks and immediately moved thirty miles away and went shopping for a new job. They had to hire two people to take my place. Idiots. I'll never work for a (Bain Capital type) hedge fund owned company ever again.
Got to love the upper management realignment scheme and the magical disappearance of sign on guaranties, got caught in that one also. Sold my home in that area and moved 75miles away.
I worked for a business back in the 70's that made promises of career training and increased income. "but first, help us out through this time of need...this tight spot we're in right now...…." Worked out quite well...………. for them! It was a valuable lesson for me also.
Broke the news to them this morning. Went better than expected.. figured they would blow a gasket and do me a favor of fired on the spot...nope no confrontation... Got a call from the vp about 2 hours late with another offer.. apparently they are not good at negotiating... it was worse than the original.. Said thanks... but at this point in my life this would not be a good decision for me. I’ll be at the get together... it will be too much fun.
