Free Pizza--Sunday March 24 image 1 of 7 I make my own pies and have have been playing with the formula for a few years. I think I’m getting close to where I want to be with my pizza dough, so I thought I would put a post up here for anyone wanting a free large pizza. I have a small wood burning oven, and the pizzas come out real nice. I want to get people’s honest opinions and feedback. Email at this link for more info. I’m not a restaurant owner or anything. You won’t be disappointed.
Well there's a couple trunkloads of oak limbs back by the treeline, need to be cut in half. You would need to go when the dump is closed.
Haha, I thought that was your pizza for a minute Midwinter ! I clicked the link and the ad was flagged for removal. Too bad, nice looking pies for NH if you can trust the strange invite. I'm an old school New Yorker, which is a far cry from todays globalist NYC where we are seeing the historic and colloquial mom and pops pizza shops being pushed out for Panera and the like. Sad what has happened to my city, but I will try to do justice to it's pizza making traditions. That said, wood fired pizza is admittedly a more modern hipster phenomenon in NYC where as far as I can remember I always saw my pies being tossed into a pizza oven back in the 70's and 80's. Anyway, I have been scrounging brick lately (which is nothing new, I always take bricks home when I find them dumped because I always find a use). I think I have everything I need now to make my "earthen pizza oven". The last thing I needed was the fire brick for the oven floor which I got from my brother in law. Years ago I helped him move over 300 fire brick he bought off craigslist for his more serious and permanent pizza oven. He had a few left over that he offered me a long time ago, but I had no use for them at the time. Today on a whim I called him to see if they were still in the offing and he still had them! The oven will be built in that middle circle which was always too shady to grow many things Some patio pavers I scored years ago and some clay brick I got from a demolished building construction site in Jersey City last week. A loose drawing of my oven plans without the layer of dirt and patio pavers that will cover the top. So the layers will be 1 level of cinder block base, the fire brick floor, red clay brick for the inner wall stacked 5 high that the dome will rest on, then a layer of insulating red jersey clay sub soil held in by the outer layer of patio block. This plan is very loose and subject to change as I build of course. Will start when I get a free weekend.
I haven't had a good pie in a long time! If you build it, I shall come! Here's a pizza oven building thread... We've begun the big patio/pizza oven project!
Oh no.. more pressure! I'm really digging myself into a hole here haha.! Ok you are definitely welcome of course, but let me make a few pies and see if they're worth driving 300 miles for Lol!! The good news is I'm amazing at grilling so if the oven and the pies turn out a flop there's always steak grilled on a wood fire!
Well, 5mins away near by BIL, I scrounged this. Not sure what it is. There's ash and oak in the area, but I don't think it's either. It splits easy enough If I ended up with some kind of poplar/popple, then I have a nice amount of shoulder wood. Two loads. There's a layer of rounds under the smaller branches.
great looking score. I like "easy" scores! I think the wood is poplar, not 100% sure. Its always nice when its cut uniform. Makes it easier to load. Great job loading btw! You car hoarders are real good at that!
I found some apple this AM. All curvy, and cut on the diagonal. I'll get a dozen straight splits and a lot of chunks.
Nice! You can't get any more convenient than that! Well I guess if it was already split for you, but that's no fun. I'm in agreement with the others, poplar or cottonwood. It will be perfect for shoulder season or great mixed in with denser wood. Is that a Dodge Caravan? They have an impressive design to create instant deep cargo space. Midwinter you can bring the apple wood uglies when you come for pizza haha! I use my odd cut offs for grilling and apple wood is great on the grill, so I imagine it's a good cooking wood all around.
Yup dodge grand caravan. 2nd and 3rd rows of seating, sink into the floor, to change from a people van to a cargo van. Very versatile, imo.
I did, but I had to babysit. Otherwise, I would have tried for it. If there was really a cord, it would have been 7-8 trips in the RAV4...
