Absolutely. Obviously they are still humans, but essentially so different. The same deal with how different north and southern Californians are.

Well, it is almost that time of year when people in this area will be buying "loom" to plant grass and plants in.

To the rest of the world, it is loam. It took me forever to figure out what people meant when I first moved here from KS. It was late April and everyone was talking about picking up loom. I was like, "what the heck, did I just move into Amish country and they all make their own cloth?" :emb:.

Being a history geek I am aware of that though most people in this area are ignorant to that fact.

    Ya,,,
Only place that mutt talk goes on in NY is east of the Hudson River. The rest of the state has a Midwestern accent.
Was in Pittsburg for a weekend recently and noticed natives pronounced n's as m in some words.

My father once pronounced Reading PA as Redding. We were looking at the same map or train book. He then said Reading but they pronounce it Redding in PA. I made a short call to LL Bean today regarding jeans ( Brandon Scott ), the gal spoke just like Stinny 's Bride sounds!

An interesting term I heard from a woman from Massachusettes was "TV Accent". Makes a lot of sense to me.
