Is that beech? Are they dying off in your area. My woods has quite a few of them and they have been dying the last few years. Some type of black "fungus".
That stuff's around this area too killing the Beech. How come Cottonwood, Willow, Basswood, Popple, etc. never get some bug or disease that wipes them out? It's always the good trees that seem to get afflicted.
Good work. My neighbor and I have been running into the woods some days after work now. Sunshine next two days so i am sure we will get at it while the sun is shinging.
I have some dead beech, but I did whack three that were healthy. I figured that the trees would die as they are nature and roughly 24 inches at the base. Maybe they would live........but I am certain they will make good BTU’s though.
