    Can't imagine how anyone could get $4500 for a diesel powered splitter. Gas is expensive enough. I couldn't listen to it either. Small diesels sound like they're ready to blow apart any second… :D

    I am not the greatest either, that's why my picture is from so far away. Some of my welds are not too pretty, but the good thing is I haven't broke anything on it yet. Turned the pressure up from 1900 psi to 2500 psi and split about 6 cords with it. Did not see a huge difference in power so I may back it off a little.

    I am looking locally, as local as I can get, for the best price on an Iron and Oak or an American. (Still going to have a tough time paying that much for a splitter!) While doing this I spoke to a guy who use to sell Iron and Oak. Unfortunately never stocked them, still doesn't. And now says he thinks he can sell them again. ? :confused:

    He said it was not long ago that Iron and Oak was going out of business. Instead of filing for bankruptcy they thought they would just sell everything they had and call it quits. :( Then he said he heard the creditors worked with them and either they made it or someone bought them out and saved them. Prolly the later of those.

    Have you guys heard any of this?

    You'll like it Gasifier, well built, ours has the 1350 series 305cc on it. It's a heavy unit compared to some of the others.

    You bet I do! What a relief to have that over and done with. Now I just have a couple of more things to add to the do list.

    First, I only have about 2/3 of the cash to pay for the splitter. UGH! LOFL. So I have to go out and make some more money on the side to pay it off!
    Second. I now have to find someone on this site who is better with computers than I am who can make me a cool smiley to replace the one you just used with a hydraulic splitter that looks like mine! Alright! Who can do that for me?! LOFL

    What does the size of the engine (8 HP Briggs 306cc), the 4" cyl with the 16 GPM pump, equate to in tons of force on this machine? Comparing to similar size models would it be about 27 ton or so?

    This depends on the system pressure. Assuming 3200 psi is the pressure setting typically used to obtain the rating (more on this later) I would say it would be rated at 20 tons.

    Realistically the pressure is probably set lower and you would achieve 16-18 tons depending on that setting, but don't get hung up on the number. The ratings are set using conditions the machine will never see in the he real world or sometimes flat out inflated. The specs on the machine you ordered are similar to the 20 ton Iron and Oak Fast Cycle that I think you rented previously.
