Yup! Now, just arch the stacks a little bit and you'll have better than 2!!

Been thinking about that, but not sure how I’d cover it. Kinda got a easy plan if I leave it flat and level. Things are starting to pick up at work. Might have to wait till next season for much of a modification

    Fake news...PLUS.
Real news for the crowd, here goes:
Full cord ( the real one of 4x4x 8 ) on paper = 128 cu ft.
In the real world of splits INCLUDING THE MANY SPACES IN STACKS ( the " I will love you in the morning dear." stacks ) a real cord space = ~ 80 cu ft averaged out. Now YMMV BUTT, it's about 80 ( except maybe in the nether parts of Oz.
So with this bright bulb's calc, that steel rack ( which I do love BTW ) may hold what ? Not a full 2 ( TWO ) cords, but much less. My brain is now on leave. :deadhorse: "~ " means "about" . :heidi:
damm, it is lonely being right. :vulture:

Why are "YOU" trying to re-invent the wheel? There is probably 7000+ years of burning experience from members on this forum that I can count just in my head. If thats what you want it to be then fine! :faint: Everyone else will say will say just shy of 2 cord. You can argue all by yourself and see who wins!

And for sure if someone told me that I had only 80 cu ft in my cord I would call worse than BS. He no doubt got that figure off the Internet somewhere....so he figures it has to be true. Think about it. If it is 80 cu ft, that would be an average of different stacks which would mean that a lot of stacks would be even less than 80 cu ft. But even at 80 cu ft, that would mean 1/3 of the stack is air. I will call BS on this one every time.

Sorry DBH but you are just a bit too argumentative on this forum. I know another one that would welcome you where they like to argue but this is not a good forum to argue. That said, I know you'll come back at me and I probably won't even read it but I will tell you that you have made a lot of people on this forum dislike you.

    Okay, end of rant.

Is there a tally of unlikes kept somewhere ?
Doesn't sound very PC - so I guess that means I like it !

No One buys cord wood by displacement volume.
All one has to do is become familiar with the metric and definition of cord wood and it should be obvious to all but a few blondes as to why.

Well that explains how many shady firewood sellers short people...if they are loading their trucks to "80 ft per cord", not 128.
Just piled loose in a truck or trailer they should be loading probably more like 150-160 CF to get 128 CF once stacked.

Wow. Indirectly calling Dennis ignorant by using a quote? That's uncalled for. Remove that crap or you'll be getting a pm from a mod shortly.

Dad had a decent sized firewood business when I was a kid. Had a flat bed 1 ton 7' wide. We stacked 5' high and fit 5 rows in the truck 16-20" long, depending on how long the buyer wanted it cut. Sold it as 5 face cords. Never had to worry about selling short loads and having to return with a half face cord. Maybe it's just your area that sells like that. Here, for at least 40 years, that's how it's been done.
