IMG_4192.JPG IMG_4191.JPG IMG_4184.JPG been nibbling away at my recent score and was out this afternoon finishing up splitting the white oak. It was cloudy and the rain held up despite a few "spits". Ground is still to mushy to back the truck in and load the white oak, and have pulled most of the red oak as its next to a driveway.
Im guessing 3 1/2 cords total for the two trees.

Real nice Brad! I bet it smells great. I love those big sheets of bark like that. I like to lay them out like a mat in my processing area to keep mud down.

Do you have some wet spots you plan on placing those big sheets of bark?

The pin oak smelled like s%$t, but the white was great...my personal favorite. Caught myself sniffing a fresh split now and then (not the pin). I have more than enough bark to go around. My processing area (the picture is not my yard) gets lots of leaf cover, plus all my noodles and wood crumbs, which i disperse where it does get muddy. Ill probably burn lots of the bark in my firepit when it warms up. Use it to start the charcoal.

In this case the 24yr old "kid" who owns the house wanted it to burn outside. Im going to hollow out, or at least make it concave, the white oak tree stump so he can use it like a firepit to help get rid of it. Most of my decent bark ill burn. The crappy, crumbly stuff ill use for that.
