Sorry if any of you work for FedEx but I’ve had nothing but issues with them the last 5 times I’ve ordered something. IMO they use way too many contractors who just don’t care. Anyways, after having to go pick her up at fedex here she is. Brand new 395xp. I honestly have never heard of them being manufactured in Brazil, is that common? Is there a lot of counterfeit saws out there? Maybe it’s just me but something just seems weird with this one. I gotta get home and check it out, I’m actually posting this from fedex parking lot. Think I’ll put 3 or 4 tanks through her before I hook her to my mill.
I see posts on other site from Fall of 2017 about 395’s being made in Brazil. Sounds very legit. Don’t bother reading their whole thread-it goes downhill fast!
Unfortunately I read too far! I just never knew they had production in Brazil. Im not concerned, looked it over good last night and everything seems up to snuff. By the time I got out in the garage though it was after 10 so didn’t want to fire it up. Hoping to do that tonight after work.
What do you guys think, get a few tanks of gas through it just cross cutting before I strap it to the mill or just get right to work? Does it matter?
Nice! You will really like this power head on the mill. It'll oil a 42". I had a 50" on my 394 and it barely needed a little more. I'd definitely break it in off mill. And consider a muff mod to help those hot exhaust gasses exit the saw quicker. On that big bar log, the muff was approaching cherry red in the center and I only noticed it because the sun was down.
Yeah, don't work it that hard on a mill until you've ran a few tanks of gas through it. Made in Brazil, can you read the manual?
Pretty sure that you’d have to spell it in Portuguese. Fueled her up last night and she fired up on the 5th pull. Sounds mean. Don’t have any big wood right now to sink it into. Have a whole pile of oak limbs that need to be cut to size so that’ll have to do for now.
Get a tank through it at least. If you do kill don’t do any cuts longer than a minute straight at first without a little break to cool off. After 3-5 tanks I’ve run new or rebuilt saws in 4-6 minute long cuts.
