Last five or six days we have had record temps as high as 76*. House is 65* or more in the AM so no need for fires. One or two days I ran the furnace for a half hour but that's it. We get a lot of sun so the house warms quickly in the late AM. Last two days we had the screen doors and windows open in the afternoon!
Was 27ºF at 3 AM , but 40ºF at 6 AM Had half loads of pine all day as the sun never came out - so no solar gain, restarting from the smallest handfuls of "coals", or pine hot spots. Right now at 3PM it is 40ºF outside and 74ºF in. Spent the afternoon in the greenhouse getting pots of soil ready. If Summer comes early I'm gonna be ready.
Thirties here, burning pine for the last few days with a split of oak or sugar to keep coals. Snow on deck for the weekend, or rain.. Flip a coin!
46* presently. Friday high predicted at *40. Next week highs in the 40s with some 50s mixed in. Burning a mixture of under 12" chucks that I have had stored in the barn for the last 3 or 4 years. I kind of like them chunks. Burn good with good heat without many chunks in the eater. I have another skid full to bring up. Spring can't come soon enough. Starting to scrap the bottom of the seasoned wood supply.
Good evenin folks...no fire...no time.....worked 11 hrs. today...fire will be built tomorrow after work..
Yes we did! We're all mixed up here. Don't know whether to wear boots and flannels or flip flops and shorts! I just did all the maintenance on the boat yesterday and today so it must be spring!
Actually buZZsaw BRAD , the avatar is Tom's picture, the other guy is just a random pic he found on the web so he doesn't scare people. Right Rope ?
33F here & finally clearing up. Supposed to stay above freezing tonight, but 40 with a north wind tomorrow. Sun's supposed to shine though, we'll see. Oak in the boiler.
It got up to 50°F / 10°C plus a bit the last three days. Broke high temperature records in quite a few places. The yard is pure ice except for a few bare spots. I'm too old to do flip-flops on the ice, so I'll cut some wood when I can stay upright. 200 miles south of saskwoodburner.
37° here, didn't start raining until 3A, so I guess that means it will rain most of the day. My husband sharpened the chain on the EGO saw for the first time. He's curious about the job he did on it, so I guess I'll have to do some cutting this weekend. I'm thinking about that oak log outside the dump, the snow has melted off it...
29 out 78 in getting ready to reload with a mix of bricks, KD, and beech. Now we’re in the 1-3” zone today, wet and heavy, but it’s supposed to be 50 on Sunday so this will just help the rest melt quicker. Just enough to make a mess driving for awhile.
35 here and Elm, Sugar, & Boxelder toasting up the joint. Mrs. Mt. Man just saw a big deer jump the road and go tearing by my stacks like a bat out of hell heading into the woods out back.
Today we'll be lucky to get above freezing. Starting out (now) with 24 but we'll go through the day without any sunshine.
32 at 7:30 am, no fire last night, first time all season when we were home. Definitely cooler in the house didn’t want to crawl out of the covers. Didn’t look but still probably 68 or so inside. Going on a bit of road trip to pick up a new trailer for my skid steer today, & yes I’m sure it’ll see some wood hauling duties in the future
