I was not in the mood or feeling all that great today, so I built a Holz Hausen.
Hey, at least I got the wood off the ground.

    Starting platform...

Started with a ring of wood to get the slant towards the inside...

Looks great! What's the diameter and how much wood do you think is there? This may be in my future.

This one is about 6 feet in diameter and about 6 feet high. By all standards, this is considered a small one. My first one was 10 feet in diameter and would have been 8 feet high if I had finished it.
I'm not sure about the amount of wood, but I’m pretty sure this one is more than a cord and less than 10 cords. :D (I haven’t done the math yet.)

Looks good. That could be a space saver here and it looks cool.

It is amazing how much wood can go into one of these.

If all goes well, I am hoping to drop my splitter off at your house sometime before Friday. I so the able to use it over the weekend at all and will probably be paying attention to our gArden the next week.

    Real nice, looks really good.
Much much better than having the wood piled up on the ground !

I keep saying I'm gonna try that,
I'm gonna build one some day !

Nice how to step by step pics :)

They look impressive, but I were to build one, I wouldn't want to take it apart.

Me likey. I would be tempted to leave it up just to look at. Wood won't rot sitting on those pallets....

It is pretty solid. This stack is pretty good for me since our property is VERY windy.
The saw buck is my sons (he's 5). He has been sawing on that log for months with his plastic chainsaw. That saw buck used to be bracing for horse jumps in its previous life.

The only thing I don’t like about this style of stack is that the first one on is the last one off. It almost has to be a long term stack just to make sure that all of the wood is dry before dismantling it.
Most of the time that’s not a problem, but last year I was behind the 8 ball with my wood and discovered this problem with the last HH I made.

I want to let this ash rest a week or two anyway, and the maple is pretty much buried now. So I just got that mulberry and walnut from last weekend to work up and then we will be good to go. I bet we will be done with that by Wednesday.
