Thank you and thank you all brothers and sisters. I am still in a fog, but know that will lift.

I don't know how you got to post all those pictures without having to go to a second post. Good Job. That is one pine someone won't have to worry about being hit by lightning and exploding. I won't have a pine near my house. Seems those pines that stand alone are the ones most likely to get hit by lightning then explode. you always do such a good job Scotty

What I am trying to describe would be about the same as a room thermostat having a very wide heat anticipator swing.

Beautiful weather the past few days.
    NEAR 70 F yesterday.
We finished crushing all the shells we had that were not stove ready on Saturday.

Munchy all cleaned up and going back to it's owners today...

Last night we decided that it was too warm to start the fire, so we left the stoves off at 11 pm bed time.

NOT THE CASE at 3 am when I made a call to the head....

Down to 64 F in the house, so tossed a quick fire in the big stove and then crawled back in the rack.

It was upper 30's at the witching hour and no fire was not gonna cut it by 5 am when I usually roll out.

    Spring is coming..

This lovely weather is going to go away by mid week and we will see more normal March temps and more rain.

Today we are going to go get another load of shells and maybe another one tomorrow too.

Getting a good start on next seasons stash seems like a great plan, and this great weather makes it far more enjoyable...

Well, moved snowpiles with tractor, then shoveled a path from deck to driveway,as driveway is melted off 50-60%,shoveled through 3-4 foot of snow, but cat is really happy,no longer trapped on/under the deck.

I'm not being nasty.I just know a vac with a high quality filter, with a "drywall" dust bag, works very well for fine ash.It is just, after that 12 gallon unit I have, gets really heavy, after 1/2 full, hard on my old injured arms.I am looking for the same results, lighter weight.Price is not really a big factor.

Yesterday saw successful shell run with 9-1/2 barrels filled back up.

Absolute joy to be outside yesterday...
Decided to unload by the house and not drag all the equipment down to the out building.

Far easier to haul the filled barrels back down the hill with the tractor instead.

Today the weather is looking great again, so going to head back to the plant in a while and get another can full.

This will give us a fair bit to crunch once I get the new MUNCHER together.

I picked up a piece of 8 inch well casing yesterday to build the crusher rotor from.

This is load #6 for the season.
We certainly don't need these loads this year, buttttttttttttttttt, it's far more pleasant to do this work in shirt sleeves rather than shivering one's butt off in Nov, Dec, Jan, Feb

We have never had the option to do this work in the nice weather, so we are going to take advantage of it...

Once the new much is ready (A few weeks away) we can start running these shells and be all ready for next winter.

Depending on the time frame of getting the new munch up and running we certainly may get more shells before the plant shut down for the season (Late May as of yesterdays best guess)

Only a few of them I would indulge in being the Bourbon Snob I am , Jefferson is a great average one along with the single barrel Four Roses and Eagle Rare. Always have some Four Roses in the house. If you want some top notch Bourbon I listed a few in an earlier post but would list them again if asked. Trying some V One Vodka this evening and have to say its dang good but not available around her I think you have to head south possibly Connecticut to get it, don't know for sure but will find out as it's delicious.
Will have to find the Henry Mckenna Dpopps sounds good and have never tried it before, now I am on the search as there are not many Bourbons I have not tried. Thanks for the heads up .

Yesterday was a near repeat of Monday....LESS THE 30 KNOT WIND WE HAD.

We did one more load of shells.

No pix..we got after the task with gusto, and by 9:30 am we were loaded up and heading home from the plant.... parked the rig by the shop door and then had breakfast. Then went after them shells.

Had one breakdown.... One of the flex hoses died and had to be repaired... DUCT TAPE TO THE RESCUE... One hose that we use on the shell transport end was fairly old and cracked at several of the flex points and stopped the system BOOM, PLOP, DONE :(.

Before we go again we are going to need a new hose.
We had been using the main hose off of an old shop vac and adding an 8 foot extension, but with the failure I think a single new hose thats the same length as the total of what we had would be a better deal.

All in and done, with the tools and equipment put away by 3 pm... Barn chores done by 3:30, through the shower and kicking back watching the local news by 4 pm....

Fabulous weather and real happy that the work is done..

Today it's still gonna be good weather, so think I will go after getting some machine work done on the new munchy machine... I think we need to name the new creation..
    "Munch Mac"
