That's gonna dull the chain I had dropped a nice ash tree earlier this winter. Then we got more snow, and I didn't get back to it for a while. I guess I waited a bit too long.
Our farm when I was growing up was on the banks of the Kankakee river, we had a mile of old river bottom and a 1/4 mile of new river frontage. This time of year, water rose dramatically in that old river bed.
Coyoterun and Sandhillbilly, I hadnt seen you on here before nor noticed fellow Huskers! I’m in Stromsburg. Hope you’re both high and dry today, especially Sandhillbilly as it’s says you’re in North Central NE? If either of you has interest in attending the GTG at backwoods savages place in May, I’m planning on making the drive and have room for more if anyone wants to join. Stay safe out there Joel Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
It's a little wet here all over. I'm on top of the ridge, but the snow has plugged the drains and even here it's a mess. Some of the river valleys are being evacuated.
Where ya at? I’ve got family that lives in Spencer for over 20 years and it looks like it may be a while before they can get the south access open again. Crazy stuff. This just isn’t something I expected in Nebraska. Hoping people stay safe. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
Thanks for the welcome. I think it was last Friday I joined. Those gtgs sound like a blast, but that’s a long ways. He is in Wisconsin right? Wish there was one in Nebraska. Not much of a husker fan, don’t pay attention to any athletic sports really. Football season =hunting season
Central MI actually. Only 12hours . I’ve thought of going for three years and decided I’ll just do it. Was gonna drag my fifth wheel out but decided to just get the tent out for simplicity. We could try and plan a GTG in Nebraska but i don’t have a good place to cut that much. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
Yes I have. Very sad. My wife’s family is from there and the church camp she grew up going to is flooded bad also as it’s along the river. Tough on all those towns up there. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
My pictures were from the Gresham-Surprise area. We're up on the ridge, so no concerns here from the water. But I hear that Utica lost power for a while, and 34 is flooded several places along there. Guess I'll stay home for a while. There's plenty of wood to cut along the river bottom, probably 100 cord of dying green ash just on that field. But it's kinda lacking in amenities for a GTG. I can't go anywhere in May, that's rather a busy time here. Jan-March is normally my wood cutting time, and I'm way behind this year. Gonna be some wet wood come fall of 2020 if I don't get cracking soon. Oh well, that's the way it goes.
Aurora has blizzard conditions this am, enough to cancel school. All area creeks and rivers are full or over flowing mostly. Our little creek is full and flooding the town park. That’s typical once or twice in the summer, but this is just bad timing with frost still in the ground and rivers jammed with ice, and then add a couple inches of rain. Chances R is gooder, I’m from York and live 20 minutes north of there now. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
Here’s to hoping the frost is out and the water recedes quickly. (And leaves your logs alone!) Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
` Wadda ya mean, there's at least one tree in almost everyone of those pictures!! ` I got one of with lots of both, if that's better:
