Is there an app that can ID trees by taking a picture of the bark? I had a buddy tell me about using one to ID a log he was scrounging. I thought he said plantid but I couldn’t figure out how to do it.

Rather than an app, you can always google a particular tree. Then when it comes up, click on Images and you will get lots of pictures which can help you ID pretty much any tree.

That’s how I do it after trying a few of the apps. As Dennis said you will get far more pictures that way with leaf and bark and of the tree in yards or forests. There was one app I liked but it stopped working:( .

I think one of the universities has an app like that. I looked it up when someone posted a link here last year.

I know leaf snap can id a tree but you need a leaf to put on a sheet of white paper or any white background, take the pic and it tells you instantly. Bark one?????

Google lens works for a ton of stuff, I bet it will work on tree species. If it doesn't, it will soon as it's constantly evolving.

Soon it will take over the world. Muwawawawawahaha!!
