After using them here we got pretty good at mixing a few bricks and wood they do make a nice hot fire!
You are correct. Around here with the abundance of hardwood, conifers go directly on the burn pile. I only cut Red & White oak with some hickory, and cherry. Black Walnut for campfires but not stove wood. I am a firewood snob.
I get a 7-hour overnight burn on one pack with a lot of hot coals/ashes in firebox . That’s with adjusting the air intake. I have attached a pic of how I stack them. This is when I am first lighting the fire after removing ashes after a week long burn.
