Didn't have enough snow on the sledding hill to take the kids , but we did get another half cord stacked in the racks Almost completely emptied the aisle full of splits I didn't have racks for, there was over a cord there
if I had a choice, and got my dream job, I would live outside of Burlington Vermont, I love the mountains and lake champlain, also that winter is more than just a season on the calendar there, or at least in the mountains.
flew to Burlington again for work, two Fridays ago, this is the 93 bridge near Hookset Mt Washington sugarbush on the way home I stopped and skiied on the little river reservoir in Vermont Spillway on the massive dam
Winter finally made a few weak attempts at snow My son and his best friend sledding on Monday It was my turn to work Saturday, so I took Tuesday off, went sledding again with my girls tired after a couple hours of sledding
Wednesday I was on the road to Plattsburgh again, Champlain is frozen over completely, lots of cars and trucks on the lake The ferry track is the only open stretch on the lake Thursday on the ferry home. Finally found where all the snow is hidden, little river state park has more than I've seen all year, and deeper than I've seen in many many years . The hiking trail bridges were covered to the point I skied across with my skis level with the top of the railings Don't slip!
Saturday I had to deliver some parts to Vermont , so of course I hit the trails again, this is from Hedghog hill, looking down on the reservoir The trail reminded me of one's behind my sister's house. Crossing the stream on ice, hearing flowing water under me, interesting .
Tubing with my oldest, the snow was slushy and melting fast, the tubes actually do great in these conditions. Winter, we barely knew ye
4 black cherry logs on side of the rd bucked n chucked in truck, ss at home. Caint wait till she's dry .. yard will smell .. love the cherry.
Finally ran out of already split wood, it's really nice to only need a couple cords to refill the racks, instead of needing another six. I've been using this tote as a scrap metal bin, decided to take the tank liner out and make another rack roof
winter slunk away in shame, broke out the rowbike and tried the new bike lane over the Whittier bridge in Newburyport. Deer Island, and the Chain Bridge, I've rowed around here many times in plywood dories. I was part of a rowing club based on Ring's Island in Salisbury , back in high school. I spent many hours on the river in yellow dories. one of the men in my church worked on rebuilding the bridge, I found the structure looked cool from the inside. The construction wasn't perfect, one bridge pier was built 6 feet out of place, they had to demolish it and rebuild a new one , working 24/7 to stay on time. 3 million down the drain. Both men were abolitionists, tried the trail in Salisbury, but the rowbike isn't for unpaved trails. The swing section of the closer bridge had to be rebuilt a few years ago, a barge hit it when open and knocked it out of alignment. The Merrimack has some incredible currents
I've rowed through the mouth a few times, and twice rowed all the way around Plum Island. The current through the islands above the railroad bridge can hit 9 knots when the tide us running .
Rowerwet caught up on this thread.. You have been less than 20 minutes from me several times Plattsburgh and ferry Lil more btv. PM me when north we will do a
interesting historical plaque on the Whittier bridge, turns out that Amesbury was the site of an early electric car manufacturer. got in another ride on the Salem-Windham-Derry railtrail . The icicles melting off the rock cuts, a sign of spring. however, much of the trail through Windham is still hasn't given up on snow. So I turned around and rode the salem trail, found it is now paved all the way to the Tuscan Kitchen, nice.
Tried a new railtrail yesterday, started at the parking lot of the old Digital building next to Rt3 and Rt 495 interesting tunnel under Rt 3 Heart lake, Chelmsford, MA. The trail currently runs to Concord, MA, someday it will connect to Framingham, MA. too early in the season for green scenery, should be nice in summer Made it about halfway, 6 miles, on my rowbike , which only goes about 10 mph
