Another gorgeous day in Paradise. I could get used to this. Cleaned the fridge and oven this morning. Now it is time to watch men's curling. Semi-final this morning and the final tonight. Some pretty close games and awesome shot making so far.

The water moccasins scene in Lonesome Dove still makes me wonder. Gus and Deets ride in to pull the kid out, wouldn't that have put them in danger of the snakes too? Lose 3 men instead of one?

Well, a whole lot of people go into burning buildings to save 1 person (or kid), so why do they all put their lives at risk? Same with hostage situations etc. Humans are programmed (mostly) to protect the young and weaker members of society. What kind of reaction would you have had if they had agreed not to put themselves at risk because they would be keeping themselves safe while loosing fewer members? On top of that, children are much more susceptible to the venom as an adult - partly because they would panic and thrash around more, and a lot of it has to do with less body mass. And, I believe that a snake only has one or two good strikes before it is out of venom (I could be wrong).

I have never seen what you are watching, so don't know the context the scene itself is in.

My real question as far as reality goes, is why was anyone in danger? Water moccasins are not normally aggressive, but will stand their ground if they feel threatened. In that case, just leave and everyone will be fine.

It’s above 30 degrees here and there is a round yellow thing in the sky. Should I be concerned?

Yes...you will soon need to limit your wood burning to outdoors...until fall. ;)
By the time this heating season is done I will be ready for a break...but then looking forward to getting back at it again in the fall...as always.

We just got back from our cabin. This is the 10X16 bunkhouse I built a few years ago. There are few buried snowmobiles in this picture. I didn't have time to dig them out for action this time, but I will come late March/April for a late season ride.

When it rains it pours...... Reputation goes a long way... I guess....:D So I better get my hinny into gear... I'm still trying to get through my big Oak from last summer. I just had two trailers (dump trailer) worth of walnut tops & everything except the big meat, put in my driveway on Thursday. I've got a couple of trees to knock down for my neighbor taken out by one of the heavy wet snow this winter. Now it looks like I'll have 4 Silver maples that I'll be knocking down sometime around Memorial Day weekend.... Definitely will be fill the racks back up....  ... :dex: Been wanting to get some lighter weight wood for the shoulder season....

A terrific problem for a hoarder to have.

Hope you can make the time to get after all that.

If it's in the driveway, it certainly becomes a priority!

Ugggh! Rain and wind this morning. We need the rain as it has been so dry but not the way to start the week. Looks like milder weather for this week.
Watched an exciting curling final last night. It came right down to the last rock of the 10th end to decide the winner.
