As with any tree, cut enough of them you’ll learn, how to deal with them. I’m not sure how many hundreds I have felled this season. I need a few hundred more, aiming for that 3 year plan.

No, I'm not. Cut a few, then take a rest is my motto.

Spruce is 99% of the species here. It burns, no issues, with standing dead and no sap to deal with. With the cold hard climate, tight growth rings it has good burn times.

There is wood pretty close to that tile. Is your clearances to combustibles right as your R value? Looks tall enough for r value if there is not wood under there.

Visited friends up in scotland, picture shows Loch Lommond.

    True dat. Sometimes.
I'd rather deal with Poplar, but I have much less of it.

There is 1/2” cement board under tile. That gives a R value of .59. Stove requires.40. Hearth is 60” X 60” steel angle iron on edge. That’s what you see that’s black.

    You guys have it all!

Prettiest women, best paying jobs, fastest cars, finest restaurants, should I go on?

I worked in Wisconsin from the 90's to retirement....and enjoyed the people I met. Everyone one of them said they would head to the U.P. once society takes a dive though. That's why we have border guards asking how you pronounce the word "sauna"...…… just to keep out the undesirables!

From the U.P...so I can say that yes, the plan was to retreat to the family farm when the country hits the skids... And politically I think we are there... But unfortunately the family farm was sold... So chit:thumbs:. I got no backup plans now!

BTW... What is the proper pronunciation of sayoona? You know, in case the border guards catch me before I can slip into the Holiday gas station to buy a yooper t-shirt for a disguise . ..
