There was just enough capacity to put a pair of slippers on that trailer. Then, it would be overloaded.
My logger told me that the local loggers here dont have their own trucks. He pays 300 per load to move it from his worksite. With this wet year if he can get the triaxles in he uses them for the better paying wood..... So take 300 off of the 850 to get to 550 or less for the same amount of wood..... im happy to drive 10 miles each way and use my own truck....
I'd say it looks good for $150! My BIL split a load with a friend a couple years ago and that's what they paid.
I just called a local saw mill for a price of mixed hardwood for a friend.... hauled on a triple axle log truck (they said 9-10 cords).....850.00
It's never gonna be 9-10. They base this on the space inside their racks... it would have to be stacked like toothpicks to come out to that cut split and stacked.
And you gotta watch the mixed hardwood load and make sure they don't count red maple as a hardwood because around here they MIX it in pretty heavy.
Predominantly beech on our loads up here. Which If I could burn one wood and one wood only for the rest of my life, hands down it would be beech.
I hear ya. I just would like that mixed hardwood load to be beech mixed heavy with oak. Know what I'm sayin!
That is a super load, albeit a bit on the heavy side. But I can understand why you are hauling it and that is a good price.
