I like to sit out in the parking lot in my truck watching all the idiots tripping and stumbling across the lot, walking into things while mesmerized with their portable "social media" devices.........................
Wow! My stomach hurts from ! Wal Mart deserves it. Here's one for you: So after landing my new job as a Wal-Mart greeter, a good find for many retirees, I lasted less than a day.... About two hours into my first day on the job a very loud, unattractive, mean-acting woman walked into the store with her two kids, yelling obscenities at them all the way through the entrance. I said pleasantly, 'Good morning and welcome to Wal-Mart. Nice children you have there. Are they twins?' The ugly woman stopped yelling long enough to say, 'They ain't twins. The oldest one's 9, and the other one's 7. Why would you think they're twins? Are you blind, or stupid?' So I replied, 'I'm neither blind nor stupid, Ma'am, I just couldn't believe someone slept with you twice. Have a good day and thank you for shopping at Wal-Mart.' My supervisor said I probably wasn't cut out for this line of work.
....so, life is actually a multiple choice test. The longer you can wait to answer a question, the more choices will be presented to you. So what is the correct choice? I'm in a conundrum. I am ready to go full time on my projects....yes. I have really enjoyed my job for many years......yes. ....so, I think I'm ready to go......right? Wrench in the works. Last week, agency I work for gave me a 3% raise and said hang around......for as long as you want. Nice. I appreciate that. So for now, I'm going to hang around. Got sent to a different office to cover for a guy that quit. A new experience. .....so, decided to get myself a little retirement/part time work present. Can't wait to get to my 4 and half day weekends to play w/my toys. Glad to have a job. Grateful for the money coming in.....to buy toys. A conundrum.
One nice thing about retirement is being able to wait to clear snow until it stops falling and the town plow truck is done. No more snowblower in the dark before work, or clearing snow at night after it has turned to rain.
Best part of retirement for me is not having to go out and chase snow flakes. I spent 38 years with the Highway Dept. doing that.
Not having to do anything is the best part. I woke up to 6” of snow. Got the fire going nice, and my good wife brought my coffee and a cinnamon bun while I watched the traffic jams on tv. I used to be right in the middle of those on a day like today.
Yea! Every time it would start to snow Dispatch would call and I would have to go out and scrape them snowflakes off the road. Then later in my career I would get called and have to go check the roads and call in the crews when it snowed. I always called it chasing snowflakes! Could have called it chasing a snowplow.
Not sure where Shushan is in NY, but we sure appreciated you guys when we went through the Adirondacks at night this winter.
Inside of 5 years if our current plans stay the course we shall to be retired. We will both be 50. Have been planning for early retirement for the last 15 years and thus far are on course. To do this, we’ve opted to move overseas to my country of birth. Having built the house already with no mortgage , and a fairly new vehicle paid for our expenses would be very low since I plan to produce a great deal of the food we plan to consume. My plans include a lot of gardening , farming and napping. Some volunteering will be also in the cards. Looking forward to it.
The best thing about retirement is no longer having to block my ladder with the bumper of my service truck on an icy or snowy parking lot to climb to the roof to work on a commercial hvac unit. No, actually the best thing is not having to step off that ladder onto the snowy or icy metal roof any more ....or vice versa. LOL. More than a few times in 40+years...whew ! Long gone, but not forgotten.
I spent more than few hours on those roofs for the same reasons. I can't tell you how grateful I am those days are over!
