Ray, Thanks for the kind words but I even still get urges! But they are now "very" far apart! I used to think of cigarettes every waking minute but it slowly faded:)….. You have to think of the people around you and not yourself, That's what I had to do, then it finally made sence:eek:. How would they feel watching me lay in a bed slowly dying from something that could have been prevented, thats just not fair to them! I was 49 when they first found it, I had 6 RFA abations done to my eshoghus at Jefferson university, "and they don't feel good"!:(:(:(… But it was better than the alternative.:zip:, and I still have my eshoghus "THANK GOD!"

Funny how we tend to always think we are immortal until things like this happen Dave.. Hearing stories like yours gives more incentive to stay off the smokes! Glad you're OK!!

You'll do it Ray!!!! Even if you slip up,:smoke: "don't "GIVE" up, keep going, try, try again:)…. and I have to say one other thing, I was "VERY" lucky mine was caught very early and it has about a 96% cure rate with ablation, But if it had gone another year or so, Things would have been bad, VERY BAD:(

Congrats to all you quitters. It took the dr telling my dad quit or probably die of a stroke in a year or two. My mom died of it last year in a few weeks. She was 52. Definitely not worth it.

A guy I did some fishing with was told to quit by the Doctor or he would have a heart attack (he was 53 at the time) he never quit, he had the heart attack which he lived through, he quit.

    Good luck Ray.

Funny how you hear stories like that often enough these days. It's another thing to actually quit, it takes the heart attack (if you survive it) to make you do it, and even then some folks continue on without batting an eye.
    Good post

He stopped a few times but always started back up, it's easier said (quitting) then done.

As kids, one of us started smoking and we got a trip to the lung cancer floor at Memorial Sloan Kettering courtesy of my Dad. That makes you think.......

I will never nag or lecture because I hate it myself.. I did go down to 7-10 cigs a day before quitting and that helped.. Can't even imagine 4 packs a day but did smoke a pack a day or a 1.5 if on vacation etc.. Loon you have to want to do this my friend.. Good luck..

Loon (Terry) I will also mention I stopped smoking in the house 18 years ago when my wife was pregnant with my last daughter plus it wasn't fair to the wife and other kids.. I don't know if your wife smokes but if not that would be good reason to not smoke in the house plus Emma would appreciate it too :D..

I fell off the wagon before I actually got on this Jan. Silly but true, not inhaling most of the time, but sometimes it happens out of habit before I even realize. How are you doing mat60 ?

I was hoping no one would ask because I don't lie.  I smoked yesterday but not today. Its funny I can go without beer with no problem but the smoking isn't easy. Im going to keep trying.
