Very proud! They did really well considering their ages and that they logged close to 5,000 miles playing different tournaments around the state this season. I think they played around 40-46 games for the season. They play in the 8u (under 8) bracket sancuned under USA hockey. Justin turned 8 and Hannah 6, she is a hard charger, she plays defense had a lot of blocked shots and and a bunch of assistants no goals. J eats, breaths, sleeps hockey he is my hard charger. My oldest Tommy 10 they wound up 4 in the state this year. Justin also plays up on his team. They all have practice 5 days a week. T&J stay extra and practice up, J and practices with the high school. And is the 2nd fastest player on ice for the school. Has great hand to eye. J had tons of takeaways and breakaways had 15 goals for the 6 game tournament. Played the last game have had food poisoning. Was sick and threw up, missing first few minutes, went to the ice, played like nothing was wrong, 2 goals, got sick minutes after they returned to the locker room. They stayed an extra night hoping he would feel better before the 357 mile ride home.
Looks like the polar vortex is starting to lose some steam. Temps still below normal and way too much wind though. Hard to enjoy warmer weather with this constant wind. Should kick up to 30 mph later. Poplar in the reactor.
-24c/-11f under blue skies. My fire went out for some reason this morning. Ill have to get it going again shortly. Normally there are plenty of coals to rake forward for a reload.
Still way too cold here but the temperatures are supposed to start climbing back up tomorrow and thawing by the weekend.
Nice bare highways this morning. -19 was the coldest I saw. The winds are really kicking up a little dusting that we received and let me tell you, we're lucky that it wasn't snowing like it normally could. THAT would really have been bad! Visibility was low enough with just that little dusting....and cold as can be once again.
35° presently, burning maple. Going down to 25 tonight. I’ll be loading up with cherry and pin oak for overnighter
Imagine that, Rope 's kids working hard & excelling! Can't say I'm surprised, but it sure gives me hope in the future generation(s). Congrats Tom! Speaks volumes about the household they're growing up in. Shake each of their hands & tell them they've earned the respect of a man many thousand miles away.
14F here & snowing pretty good, couple more days of lake effect here, then warming up. Locust & Oak in the boiler.
17° now, talking 30° tomorrow with snow starting in the evening, talking 3-5", like we need it. Saturday they are starting to talk up to 1" of rain with nowhere for it to go. Dug a molt in the snow tonight so hoping it will take the path of least resistance if it happens. I'm starting to think this whole winter thing is over-rated.
14 here and dropping, burning Boxelder during the day, and Elm & Sugar Maple at night for the last few days.
15 now, 72 inside with red oak, more oak and locust going in soon. 10 overnight and 24 tomorrow, so they say. Been going through about 3 gallons of water a day with this dry cold.
