Getting prices on this oak to come down. Grind the stump, and leave as much as possible behind for firewood. We weren’t planning on taking this down this year but a lot of branches are starting to come down. The guy that took down an oak for us 2 years ago came in as the lowest price so we will be going with him as he is a good local guy and a good friend of my neighbor across the street. Also looking to get some concrete work done in this area. I will be sure to take some pics of the removal. Working on removing my stacks in the pics to another area to make some room.
Wow! That's good stuff! Keep as much, or all, of the bigger stuff as you have room for. Dat's gonna be a nice haul! Yous gonna save enough on heatin' wif dat ta pays fer da take down an den some!
Can’t wait for this beast to come down, told my neighbor about the removal today, you can bet he’s happy about it. Lol
Smart move taking it down. With all the freaky weather the past few years in our area (im across the sound from you) id be nervous with it that close to the house.
You got that right Brad, out of no where a nice size branch came down before the winter this year , thankfully no damage to me or my neighbor. After last weeks wind I told my wife it’s time to get this beast down.
One of the Noreaster/blizzards last March brought down a huge red oak that took out our power for 4 days and tv/internet for 8, blocked driveway for day and a half. There was wires down and it wasnt on our section of driveway otherwise idve been on it in a heartbeat. I did get to cut it later. May 15th tornado took out power for two days. No damage or trees down. Wind two Sundays ago for 45 minutes luckily. Always an adventure with New England weather!
You will get a ton of wood out of that tree. I scored 2 like that last year. One red, one white. When they were standing I knew they were big but when they're on the ground and you start cutting they seem to double in size.
2 cherries, a red maple, and a section of a red oak top. I got them all hauled out and split. Just finished the last of the cherry up today. There's a white oak farther back in that I'm going after tommorow but I can only get the atv and cart so far so I gotta carry each round back to it.
Sounds like what i go thru in my woods only i have a wheelbarrow. Ill only grab some if its a bigger tree and nibble at it. Cut it all and split in the woods first. Ive actually left it stacked to season in the woods.
I'll probably take the isocore and halve the rounds to make carrying them a little bit easier. Not the biggest tree in the woods but green oak is green oak!
That tree will make some pretty technical work for the climber, big tree & small drop zone. That'll be some real btu's & a relief to get gone.
