    Took the lot even skinny branches , just because it was the decent thing to do .

    You did great! Birch twigs make great kindling. The bark has volatile oils which make it very flammable, and even the smallest twigs catch fire very fast. When I'm in the mood I clip them and pack them in a milk crate to dry.

    Looking a bit healthier now , could still do wi another good scrounge though .
    Garden smells of eucalyptus, glad I didn’t clip the 4 inch nail with saw .

    Any peat sources near you?
    Can peat burn in a wood/ coal stove? Not sure about the smoke either
