I purchased a used Shindaiwa 680 chainsaw that I used for the first time in a while.
When I went to start it, I noticed the on/off switch was in the on position. Strange because I make a habit of idling the equipment dry and flipping the switch off when I put them on the shelf.

When I went to start it, the saw would fire and quit. This went on for quite a while, acting like it wanted to go, but stalling out.
I decided she was flooded and went to clear it by moving the switch to off and giving it some cranks. The saw immediately started and ran fine.
So obviously the on/off switch was upside down. It worked well until later in the use, it wouldn’t shut completely off, but would run crappy when I switched to the off position.
I found a loose ground wire which apparently was intermittently allowing the saw to fire. [IMG]

That is strange at best. Could just flip the switch around to the normal position?
