    I completely understand. Like when we lived in the north country. Most wood gathering was in the late summer or fall as the snow usually got just too deep to work in. One has to go with whatever Mother Nature sends your way.

    And in my case now, I'm several years ahead so if I can't cut, like right now, there is no worry.

    Geeze, I just brought some wood to the porch and it is cold out there. Outside the wind it really is not bad but, as usual, the wind drives the cold into your bones...and face...and ears...and hands...and feet.

    Regina, one of the nearby weather stations set a new low temperature record this morning, -33°F / -36°C. The old record was -30°F / -34.4°C set in 1917. Better get some more DED Elm split.

    Correct, I am keeping my gear at work. As soon as I clock out, I change, jump on the snow machine get a load of wood, load the truck, put gear away and head home. Really helps not have to transport gear daily. And I have a work buddy who has cant sit still/idle syndrome. He does not burn wood, but has snow machine and sleds, and he comes and helps me. And helps me 3 out of 4 times, I am quite lucky to have great help, I bring him a pizza/ steak or bacon cheese burger on occasion, He thinks he is getting the better end of the deal.:thumbs:

    Backwoods Savage the road is SR338 from Wellington, Nv to Bridgeport, Ca. It's the old Stagecoach road that led to town of Bodie, Ca during the gold rush days.

    I'll have to remember this one. The picture reminded me of Highway 50. We were told to never take that road because it is a whole lot of nothing for a long, long time. So, quite naturally I had to take it and thought it was a beautiful drive. It certainly is not for city folks though. That would drive them nuts seeing nothing but nature and very few cars or people. I loved it and so did my wife.

    Backwoods Savage, Hwy 50 (Lincoln Hwy) is really nice and not so much traffic as Hwy 80.... Did you stop in at Great Basin Park National Park ?

    13f, Ash mostly, maple, paper birch, box elder, and some red oak. I'm getting down to my last 1.5 cords of wood, kind of a mixed bag left now. The wind has finally died down, man it was wicked.
