How dare you post such pics without any details of the truck. That looks like a Tacoma.

Yes it is a tacoma it's the only thing I've got that will get around when the snow is deep it's got grip spurr tires in the winter time and a winch just in case
It's also got a little heavier than stock leaf springs so you can load it up
It's my hunting truck but when the big trucks cant go up the mountain it will

Mixed load of spruce and birch, my standing dead spruce in the spot by work has been hauled home over the last two winters. I have to explore across the road next work from the view with binoculars some promising standing dead spruce should be less than 10 minutes one way. Birch patch is healthy. 42D97B9E-A9FD-48F3-A504-2B37AEAEB666.jpeg 5719E529-8323-4AEF-B55C-2B5F531A4975.jpeg

Yessir, better than my joints. Now that I have seen light, I won’t live without one. I always thought I am not wasting money on a splitter, when I can hand split.

I think it was when I had 3 mauls with broken handles I decided to get Hydraulics :hair:, But if I didn't have hydraulics now I wouldn't be burning wood

I understand, I just held out as long as reasonable. Now I am planning on a wood processor for the next phase of life. There will be a day I can’t manage the physical work in the woods. A few cords would be one thing but 15-20 a year will be something else.

I have looked at a harvester, but think a forwarder with processor roller head may be a better option. They will cut the tree, then cut to length, onto the back of the forwarder. Then I will need a trailer with a grapple to transfer from forwarder to trailer. All not to buy heating oil.

But will have to sell firewood to make all that reasonable.

Birch load from after work, snow is getting deep, 461 with square grind makes quick work. Cut 4 birch and brought the smallest one home today.
