If we'd had more snow, I was going to make a second layer upside down

Recycle but put the 40 lb dog food bags inside, sometimes with my mutts I go through more food than pellets. :)

Our city won't take them unless you put them into a clear plastic bag.... go figure. I can take them to the county trash recycling place but I need a big load of junk to make it pay...

I'm curious myself, got a pile of several hundred, maybe approaching 1,000 now. The only somewhat close recycling place would not take them and has since shut down anyhow. I haven't looked into other places, likely over an hour drive. All the local recycling dumpsters ban plastic bags, I've heard it clogs whatever automated sorter is used. I did turn in a bunch at a grocery store a few years back, filled half a shopping cart with them and then topped it with a bunch of the stores bags on top. I'm not really sure if they take the pellet bags or just there own, as they are different types of plastic with different recycling #s.

It's a shame more places don't recycle plastic bags. With as much plastic waste as there is, you'd think there would be more demand to recycle, but maybe it is just that much cheaper to make plastics from first run rather than recycled.

The uses for recycled plastic are very limited and the market for recycled plastic is almost nonexistent. They can't make a quality film with recycled plastic.

We've tried some cause its cheap. But very hard to get quality on the molding process. Flash, non fills ect!! But we did try.

    Maybe some day??

I remember reading once that Pellet Companies would have trucks that would deliver pellets almost like coal used to be delivered. A hose would blow them into a bin in your cellar, or some sort of silo outside your house. I would be all for something like that. Or how about strong paper bags, like a leaf bag? Returnable plastic containers like 5 gallon bottled water comes in, only square? It just seems to me, whatever good we are doing by burning pellets is being lost by the amount of plastic waste we also produce.

There are some places that deliver in bulk (blow into bin), but for those of use with small basement, having a permanent bin is not feasible. Plus, I believe those bins should really be elevated too it is a gravity feed, and my ceiling is not high enough for that. Would love to be able to do that though!

I would think that paper bags would let in too much moisture, but maybe not. If those were feasible, then I could recycle them with other paper products.

Some people have that. Some also have a silo outside. It can be fed with an auger from either a bin or a silo. The Kedel boiler people installed several systems with bins or silos.
It's very important when blowing into a bin that it's vented to outside so the displaced air (carrying dust) does not vent into your house.

I know they use pellet pumpers in Colorado, mostly for people that have pellet furnaces.A firewood provider here started using those large construction/debris bags, pull in in your truck, purchase, and the wood is simply lifted up and put in your truck, trailer. But there is a deposit.
