BrianK , skidoo 380, will pull you around at 60 mph all day long.. A lot of guys think they need 800 xxx sleds for racing, hill climbs maybe.,

For riding through woods and rookies getting stuck in my opinion smaller lighter is better!!

Agreed. Most gents are waaaay overpowered. Lighter is a huge advantage to me.
6-10 inches heading my way tonight. No sleds ready. Oops:picard:

From a ride late spring, we had to stop at the river because the lack of water flow caused the ice to drop. Was about 6 foot drop from the bank to ice, has a saw and was about to drop some trees for a ramp. Mom is a little scared of falling through again and put the foot down. 59630406-785A-4D63-99E8-EF4B96609548.jpeg 7553BC87-530F-4B3D-8C50-E282E3D24FE5.jpeg EC28D212-8B6C-4A8B-A2C6-355C6C41C4CB.jpeg 4A614DE1-2892-4A16-977A-BF53DEBF0FA2.jpeg 63576108-9727-4474-A76B-9A212F31E868.jpeg

Looking at the picture I’m willing to guess it is the tried and true Rotax 600 carb that skidoo has been using for at least 20 years now.

Yep, it is really a carbureted 599, but they call it a MXZ 500.

I couldn't get a good read on it. The thumbnails suck for zooming in on.

Yeah the those are good engines. Not the highest hp for that displacement, but dependable . You just need to watch the carb boots as those are more prone to failing than any other sled I've seen. I'm sure that BRP fixed that though as log as they made that engine. If I could find a super clean 2up zx chassis with that engine fur the right price.... That's one of the best ergonomic wise for both people 2 stroke sled.

Yeah, I had the same problem zooming in but for some reason I thought that 2009 was the first year for the Etec motor but I believe it was only available in the “X” and possibly the XRS package sleds that year. So I took a shot and went with the 600 carb.

You are absolutely right about the carb boots, I also believe that the y pipe was always an issue as well.

A 2up ZX would be a great setup, I currently have an 04 rev with a 1+1 seat but it’s really not great for two adults. It does work great for the kids though.

Actually that’s exactly what I’ve been looking for. I had a ‘95 SkiDoo 440 fan long track touring sled. It was light, went anywhere, and friends on 580 and 600cc sleds couldn’t keep up with me in the woods.

I figure a 380 touring would be perfect for all the beginner young adults we will be having.

Before we bought our venture 2up, we rented a zx grand touring and then the next year a rev touring 2up. I like the rev chassis as a 1 person sled, but even as a dedicated long track 2 upper, the seating for the passenger is just wrong. The ZX chassis is perfect for a 2up though. Both of those rentals were 550 fan, so not enough power, for how I ride.

Do you think maybe the driver put it in reverse to get him out of there? I bet the video stopped too soon!
