Dakota, Springfield XD9 . loaded with Buffalo Bore 147 gr hardcast Outdoorsman +P . I generally wear a G20SF loaded with Buffalo Bore 220 gr TC Hardcast @ 1200 fps. Tom was close ! How do y'all like the firewood proof rear window
I do all the firewood making work. Its a selfish thing on my part. To me its lots of fun, I enjoy it, don't want to share. She has helped me at times in the past running a splitter, stacking and hauling wood.
Im very fortunate. My wife will get out and work right along side me. She doesnt run a saw but she can throw a chain with the best of them when we need to pull trees out of a pile. She moves the rounds into position when I cut, She will either run the handle on the splitter or help wrestle the rounds and throw pieces when we split. Always goes on deliveries and helps unload and stack. Couldnt ask for any better! Both kids also help out alot. The 3 year old "helps" with the loading.... more in the way than anything but she thinks shes just a big as the rest of us. Son runs the handle on the splitter and moves the rounds where we need them.
Our children are grown and gone, but still live close. Thought I would share a pic or two. This was about 5-6 yrs ago. He helped me back then. My hunny loves to run the new splitter
My wife has yet to go out to the woods with me (two young children), but she helps me unload and stack when she can. I have to wait a few more years before my boys are old enough to help.
Unfortunately this is something I have learned. Mom and Dad always warned me that life goes by quickly. Didn’t really fully know that until I had my first born.
This Dakota, like most all Dakota's in its year style can't make enough out of the heater/defroster to keep the windshield clear @ 40 below. The engine get warm enough, it just doesn't make it to the cab. If I had more energy I'de rig up an auxiliary heater.
My wife helps from when the truck arrives with our 8 cords. I mark it out and cut it she will stack it up and we will split almost every day till it's done. We have learned that to stack the split stuff as you go or it feels like it takes forever to do.
