I am so trying this for the summer camping trips. It gets hot inside the tent. I can run the fan on my portable solar panel pack. Has anyone done something similar? I am giving it a shot this weekend. Would dry ice work?
I saw the same video and have been contemplating this for summer camping trips. Something to cool the tent down.
Oh Yea than carry all the crap you want. I am envisioning a bucket strapped to a pack and having to tote a cooler around to hold your dry ice. Just go to campgrounds with power and haul around an air conditioner and set it there on the side of your tent or just sleep in the truck ...heck get a camper. You live in Iowa how hot is it there at 10pm???
In the summer, a lot of time the heat doesn't break til close to midnight. There were some nights last summer that the overnight lows were above 80. And the type of camp grounds I like to go to (quiet ones) don't usually have electrical hookups.
80f with a fan is bearable and not that bad. I wouldnt be sleeping in a sleeping bag out anything. But being g from SC and having grown up in a house without central air (had window units) and grandparents with out any source I have spent many a night in an 80 degree house with no more than a fan. You go to sleep out of the covers and in the mourning you have the sheet over you.
It's just a bucket liner, just something to help insulate. Clem-- I have arthritis in both my knees, so sleeping in the hot air makes me pretty much worthless the next day. This would probably be a pretty big help for me.
Ahhh. I see. More just rag gin on ya. I dont camp personally. I like the outdoors but just never got into that stuff.
What happens with the chemicals in the dry ice ? Would you suffocate yourself from blowing it at that low level where your head would be.
Come on laugh with me...let me illustrate. We have Jacktheknife or Grizzly adams for all you newbies or those who forgot. He is hiking the Appalachian trail with his orange Homer home depot bucket. His fold out solar panel thing and battery and a fan strapped to his pack, while his wife has to tote the full 48qt cooler of ice so that they can have a cool breeze at night. Now jack I know your truck camping and I am not making g fun of you. Bit this is what I saw in my head which made it so funny yet outrageous to me!!
If you were in a sealed room, yes... Dry ice is made of the same "chemicals" that your body produces and exhausts through your lungs... Carbon Dioxide... Depending on the temp inside the tent and the number of occupants, it is entirely possible that the occupants of the tent could be producing carbon dioxide at a faster rate than the home made air conditioner... It probably wouldn't be smart for people use this contraption with dry ice in an air tight facility just like it wouldn't be smart to walk around with a plastic bag over your head.... Very interesting concept...
