I saw an ad on the local craigslist that showed multiple piles of red and white oak rounds. The guy wanted $75 a pickup load. I offered $250 for all of it which he accepted. Today was load up day. I got 3 cords today and there’s around 3 more still there which all part of the deal. I got the bigger load first and then the smaller load. Figure I don’t need to hit the gym as I load 15,000 pounds worth of logs and hauled them home in 2 hours after work. Now it gets better- he has split wood, hoping 6 cords worth he’s letting me haul off for $125 a cord.
What you need to do jrider is get some of those office folks that work out in a gym to pay you as a personal trainer. Ain't no exercise like handling firewood! Nice haul & you got a decent price on that stuff too. Edit: Instead of Cross Fit, call it Fire Fit.
From a firewood seller, I think I got a great a price. Getting 6 cords for $250 total puts me at a little under $42 a cord for nice clean oak that has already been cut. True I have to load and haul the whole 2 miles to home or 10 miles to my mom's farm and split it, but with the right equipment that won't take long. Once I haul it all out, I will have about 4 hours invested in 6 cords of rounds on site to split. I will be getting $1500 for it once split and delivered. If I could get enough deals like this, I would retire the saw. On another note, I woke up feeling great this morning. I was expecting some soreness/stiffness.
True, but I do like to take a little time off after delivery season so for the last month to month and a half, I hadn't done a whole lot of work like that.
Those rounds right there are perfect size for making some nice splits, also not too heavy to lift either. Nice work!!
Got the rest of the rounds out yesterday. Ended up being 7 cords in all. Hired a little help for the bigger pieces but nothing crazy big.
