I collect projects around my house. Yes, I'm that boring.

That said I have a few German beer items..a few glssses, steins and beer tap levers. Not sure I'd call it a collection though. More of a really nice effort by my bride and kids to come up with Christmas gifts for me. :)

You need some cuckoo clocks to round things out.

I collect antique hand tools of various trades. I don't look for rare or unusual pieces. I just pick up good used tools that have life left in them. I do some restorations. I have a vise made sometime around 1820. Using an almost 200 year old tool keeps its' history alive. I really like ball peen hammers. Each one is unique in weight, the handle and other subtle features. Like women's shoes, I have a hammer for most occassions, and I do use all of them. They also don't cost $50.00 apiece.

I also have some old fishing gear like bamboo salt water rods and wood poppers. Most of it was gear used by my grandfather and his brothers. It meant a lot to him when he had them and I keep them in his memory.

There is also the glockenspiel consider as well. :D

My wife is almost 75% German, and I am quite a bit too, so we have requisite steins, and a German shopping list wall hanging.

This is the version of it we have up at the cabin. My wife's sister has a slightly different variation at her home...but very similar.

    Very cool.

No. My good friends do and I get a few jars every year from them. Less work for me that way :)

I hope you're happy! Now I am learning a new flavour of basic to scratch the itch for 80's micro computers. That PC-BASIC 2.0.1 and I am running it natively in Linux Mint. Yes, I made a boring dice roller-- easy program to get my feet wet.

After our discussion, I admit to feeling the "itch", just haven't decided yet if it should be scratched, or left alone.

I was just happy that the itch didn't result in me buy or digging out hardware. A software solution is good enough I hope.

US Coins and Roman coins......started collecting US as a kid, but got disenfranchised when the grading companies got involved and inflated pricing far past and collector of meager means, I found Romans......relatively rare by modern mintage standards, and more affordable in many cases, these coins are 1500 yrs old or more! I imagine their history.....was this Faustina1 used to bet on a gladiatorial match? Was it carried by a soldier to some far recess of the Roman Empire of the time (not uncommon!)....also, a good lesson in the 12 Caesars, if you care to research it....

I found the box of my old surf lures today. The three on the left are probably 1940-50's poppers made by my grandad's brother. Danny plugs in the middle with mackerel patterns and swimmers top right and bottom center. The smallest is about 6" and the center one is about 14"

Those are cool fishingpol. I don't recognize many of them, except the two on the top right look like Creek Chub Pikie Minnows. They were staples here in the midwest and have accounted for a lot of big pike, muskie, bass and walleye. Now they are a collectable.

My dad was a big fishing lure collector and also collected wooded duck decoys.
He always said that anything that was red and white wasn't worth a lot because they made so many of them!
We still have all of his collection.
One time a big name collector stopped by when my Dad wasn't there and made an offer on a couple of lures that he wanted. I told him they weren't mine to sell and he would have to talk to the old man. He replied " You don't have to tell him that you sold them to me it would just be between us".
I replied " Why don't you just get the F**** out of here and never come back"! My dad had many offers on different items but would never sell any, but offer him a trade on something he wanted, then that was a different story.
He told a story many times of the time that a guy that had sold him decoys off and on showed him a decoy and asked him what my Dad would give him for it.
My Dad reached in his pocket and had 400.00 and gave it to the guy. The guy says "That much, huh? I think I will keep it"
