Talked to an friend in Lansing today and during the last cold spell we had, their furnace and humdifier both crapped out. 3 days without heat and yes, they also had some broken water lines. They do have a fireplace and kept it going plus an Edenpure heater. Still about froze I guess.

Getting colder here, -10 & -24F windchill. Gave the boiler a few extra Oak splits after lunch. Still 70's inside. No issues keeping up so far, & the doors are closed for the day now. Forecast is for two more cold days then 40's & rain for the weekend. That's gonna be really unpleasant. Just got a good firm snowpack for the first time all winter. Oh well.

Yes, and Toivo also went to the I-500 Snow Machine Race.

"When the winter's here and we're feeling blue
Me and Toivo, we head to the Soo
I bring the pasties and he brings the beer
Just like we've done for the last 20 years

We see those crazy racers on their snow machines
Racing to see who gets to kiss the Queen....

I saw it get as warm as -10° today. That was the high. It's already dropping to -14° now.

Red oak, sugar maple and ironwood. 68° inside. Yes, the furnace is kicking in from time to time.

I expect that this winter yet.

snow machine, snowmobile, skidoo, all used fairly interchangeably here although you'd probably get corrected if the skidoo wasn't an actual skidoo.
People had snow machines when I was a kid and I remember some of them riding in the hay fields because there was no snow.
    chaulk or chalk ?
    Does it matter ?
