-34f here this am. Just got house and shop stoves cranked back up for the day. Have to go out soon and bring in wood. Going through wood at a alarming rate for sure. Have plenty on hand so all will be fine here. Keep em lit and the families toasty. This is why we do what we do folks.
12*/clear with a couple of inches to plow. A little fruity and nutty here in the shop with some cherry and hickory in the stove . 72*inside.
Today, still cold. Judging by the jet stream map, so are a bunch of places. Heating oil n wood n a bit of electric to keep wife happy.
It's warmed up to -20°. It was -24° before. Still the real feel is -45° with wind chill. Red oak and shagbark hickory in the stove.
0 degrees, -16 windchill here at the moment and forecasted to continue falling throughout the day. The stove has an insatiable appetite for oak and ash today. 72 degrees inside.
Not often, does everyone get a taste of how much wood does it take to keep a house warm when there is 80*-120* degrees difference from inside to outside. Now most will see why I go through 15-20 cords a year.I have been patiently waiting for some Glad everyone is joining in.
Snowmachine or snowmobile? Whatever you call it, there’s a lot riding on it Since they were invented, they were called snowmobiles. I go with that.
Start the day with 6*. When I talked to Chaz 2 hrs ago same temp but now is -1 and dropping. Think we will bottom out around -9. Wind are running 15 - 20 mph. Might need to kick the furnace on for a bit.
Yep, good reason to keep plenty on hand. Been a bit, but have played this game before. 88 degree temp difference from in to out right now. Don't really care how much wood it takes to keep it there either. It's paid for & it won't fail like gas or electric can.
Even as far back as the 60's, it was common for people to refer to them as snow machines in this area. Everyone knew what they were talking about too. "Toivo got one of dem dare new snow machines" A lot of people around here bought ski-doo and then there was quite a stretch when they were all called ski doo(s) too. "Toivo traded in his snow machine for a brand new ski-doo" "What kind?" "One of dem dare artik katz" Don't try to make sense of it, it just was that way!
