I ask that all the time. Locals don't burn it, because it doesn't burn well.

Ours has been running since Oct., and probably won't go off until about May or so. We keep it outside. Seems backwards.
Glad you checked in Dave. Doin' any riding out there?

It was 114F the last day I was in Palm Springs 2 years ago. That weather seems much more my speed!

My dad, who ran our dairy farm, worked as an oilfield pumper and Hazmat driver, spent years working in the cold. Last year he bought a fifth wheel and he and my step mom headed to the southwest for the winter. This year he bought a toy hauler and took his Razor. He left Joshua Tree about two weeks ago. They are riding the dunes on the AZ/CA border today. He deserves it and I'm glad he can afford to enjoy his semi retirement. He still drives hazmat when needed around here in the spring an summer.

    Palm trees aren't trees.
They're more like grass and burn like it if you actually ever get one dried out.

If I had a Winter place in Phoenix as was once in my financial planning I'd have a couple lemon trees in the back yard and learn to make lemoncello with grape brandy instead of the fast easy way with vodka. Maybe get better at knocking a 1.7 inch ball around with a stick, too.

It was crazy hot, but as long as you were in the shade, and not moving, it was "tolerable" at the pool for about an hour.

The lack of humidity really was different. It was 95F when I got there, and almost comfortable.

This coming from the guy who sweats if its 70 and humid.

The dune area is by where we wintered for 5 years. I like that area except in summertime...

I spoke at the geothermal plant in Brawley several years ago. Nasty storm here in Cleveland canceled my flight to San Diego. Continental put me on a flight to LA and I drove down. I didn't complain about the traffic once. Beautiful weather out there, horrible politics.
