20° outside, 69° inside, mix of oak and some pine. Headed for a low of 7° tonight. Sent from my SM-G950U using Tapatalk
-28f now at our home. At the Mpls/St Paul airport it is -27f , which is 3 degrees shy of a modern record for this date. I would like to think we can break it by dawn, but I think it might be too windy. Tomorrow morning we might have a better shot with clear, calm skies, and record low at the airport for the date is -27f, and there is a projected low temp there tomorrow of -29f. In 1996 while employed on an Indian Reservation during the last cold front of this magnitude we were watching some of the news out of Duluth at the office, and they were talking about the -60f record low set in Tower Mn that morning. One of the Elders at the table quipped, "Record? Didn't they think it ever got cold before they started keeping track?" I liked it!
17 feels like 11, 76 inside still on coals. It didn’t turn to rain this time thankfully, so we have about 6” and it’s supposed to end in about an hour so easy cleanup for a change. It’s a little windy but I’ll take that over slop. Below zero coming later today and for the next few days. Inside racks are well stocked.
20* outside. Just threw some red oak on. Currently 71* in the stove room and I'm forecasting 78* or higher lol.
21° here, 3 inches of snow as expected, and the sun will be out for some period of time, so cleanup will be easy. Then it's down to MA to pick up my grandson from school, and driving back as snow squalls and the cold front comes through.
-30 f wind-chill colder then you can imagine . And coldest it's been in 34 years . Adding oak slabs every 4-5 hours to keep temp from dropping in buildings 6600sqft no internet . So no graphs and charts . Maybe later Sent from my LGL84VL using Tapatalk
Its about 2 above F Had to run out and put fresh wood in the boiler about 6:00. Temp got down enough that I switched to furnce heater for aboyt a half hour. Burning my remaining well seasoned today and to tomorrow, then back to recently cut tree tops. Extended forecast is in the forties next ten days. Been looking forward to some extreme cold to enjoy the return on my labor and investment.
Dusted with snow last night. I took the Lab pups out and they didn't mind the cold. Let 1 beagle out and he was back in a hurry. I loaded the shop stove with sugar and I put a big block of pin oak and a sugar split in the house stove, 76 in the family room now.
Dang I have missed 1200 messages. Well not going back to read them. I missed a notification when busy and just keep forgetting to cone back. Well this is our coldest morning this season. I had a plugged chimney a few weeks ago and had to clean it out. I have put r30 insulation over my son's room and guest room so far, I have run out before I did the last little bit. But his room and bathroom are totally covered so there is r49 up there now. It has helped out his room temperature more than I ever thought it would. I put it over my room and didn't see much difference . But his has. Which I am glad. I have had this stuff up there for years as it was supposed to go elsewhere before he was born, plans changed reno was put on hold. But the last few years I have just never got up there to put it over his side of the house. I finially did, and hate I waited so long. But I been burning oak, and last day or so, as much white oak as I can find in the pile where I am pulling from. Car says 21f , TWC app said 23 in my town but there is no thermometer in my town as it's small, it's taken off the closest one wherever that is but I'm sure it's at least 5 miles!
-6 F wc of -18. Snowing & blowing. West Michigan is closed. 73 inside, boiler still on last night's load. Out to plow again.
Brr. Boiler still working on last night's load, but I did go out to check it to make sure. The wind was/is crazy. House was making all kinds of noises. Temperature isn't quite holding in the house....stat is set at 74 and it dropped down to 72.
-6* and windy. The wind is making it kind of hard to keep up. I can normally get the downstairs temperature up to 75* fairly quickly but this morning we are hanging around 71*. Burning ash, honey locust, and hickory today.
