    Looks like maybe another hour of snow but we should not get that much more. Nowhere near what was predicted. This is really getting to be old hat. Weather people need to cool their jets when forecasting. I guess it makes them feel important but in reality, it makes them look like fools.

    Thanks for the birthday wishes. Sat in the tree stand for a couple hours this morning. Saw 10 but nothing close for a bow shot, colder than a well diggers

    Well, it's kind of a "no-win" situation.

    1.. they will never get the forecast right for all areas.

    2.. if they downplay the forecast, and it hammers down, leaving the majority of the population unprepared, then they are criticized as well.

    3.. if they "inflate" or "upsell" the storm, then people make the "store run", while those already prepared get annoyed.
    Better to be annoyed than unprepared IMHO

    4.. ratings, unfortunately this also comes into play as well. We've gone far beyond the "bubbly/sexy" weatherlady. This is a major problem with "media" in general.

    It's no longer ABC/CBS/NBC competing for viewership. So all of the news outlets trip all over each other trying to "break" the big story, usually without any form of fact-checking due to time constraints.

    This is one of the reasons for the "fake news" moniker, the other is a political ploy that I won't get into.
    :whistle:

    I can't stomach what they call "news" coverage these days, much of it is slanted by bias, and the rest is primarily social "puff pieces" that I could care less about.

    I do listen to the news, and politics.
    More than is generally recommended
    :headbang::hair:

    I prefer to get the information required in order to make up my mind on a subject, rather than being given certain facts that support the narrative being offered.

    After all, "cherry-picking" bits of truth, while ignoring glaring inconsistencies is an easy, but lazy and dishonest way of presenting a case.

    And, yes using monikers like "Storm of the Century", or "Garbage pail wind scale" are juvenile and condescending to most any rational adult.
    Not to imply that I am one of those "adults"
    :emb::coldone:

    So, I'll let the weather prognosticators do their little shows, and find another website with decent radar coverage, and then determine how much wood needs brought in.
    :stacker:

    Wow, longer than planned.
    :loco: :crazy:

    They were spot on here.
    13" where I live, just to the north of me that got 13.5 and 15" .

    They've been wrong a lot though recently. Usually erring on the side of caution.

    I can't blame them though. They have all this awesome equipment, and they try to discern what will happen. These crazy swings in temps and weather are a direct effect from climate change.

    Monin all... :coffee::fire:... man, that far is nice down in the cave. The 4 year dry oak is impressive. Finally got the duct pipe in above the stove, and what a difference upstairs. Keeps it 70 plus no prob. Circulates without a fan by returning cool air to the basement from floor vent in the kitchen. Gonna try a muffin fan on that cold air vent, to see if forcing more air down will make a big enough difference to make it permanent. Hope it doesn't need it.

    Have a great day!

    Finished it. It is a 1000 pieces puzzle so not too big and not too hard but captivating.

    Not a lot of sky pieces either but they did take a while.

    Looks to be dry and chilly out there this morning for our walk. I think we have a couple of days before it turns to rain.

    Holy crap. How long does season last down there? And no matter what, I would not be sitting in a tree stand in this weather.

    They are already backing down just a tad on how cold it will get. That is fine with me. We got a bit more snow this morning so I might shove some around this afternoon if I have the time. Have to go get my hair cut before my wife grabs the sheep shears.

    Fan didn't make any real dif on the cold air return, Dennis. Have put it up high in the hall instead, to push the heated air out into the liv room and kitchen. I'm going to put a small hood on the stove, connected to the duct, to catch more heat off the stovetop. Should help a lot... along with bringing the stove temp up to 600 degrees, on really cold days. It's been at 350-400 degrees while checking to see how things worked.
