Hi, my wife broke me down and said to get over my anti social media stance. That I have followed you guys daily for years and to post something, since“these are your people”. I am fortunate/unfortunate to live in an area with lots of yuppies where primo wood typically can easily be scrounged from just driving the backroads because there is not much competition . I am on my 4th year of the three year plan thanks to this site. Today I spent an hour at it and only came up with some black locust, oak, mulberry and cherry, all primo but definitely lacking in quantity. I posted a picture because I know how that goes around here...

Zero is lacking in quantity. That which is in the bed of your truck is not zero and by definition not lacking in quantity. It will provide you hours of warmth and allow you to spend more money on what you like. Don’t think of it as just a few sticks. Think of it as another six pack of your favorite beer in the fridge!!! Welcome Winston and thanks to Mrs Winston for giving you the motivation to introduce yourself!!!

Good start there, Winston! Pics in the first post, dig it! i

I agree with stuckinthemuck - more wood is better even if it only fills the stove a couple times. That's a couple more days that you're not paying for heat and staying warmer than you probably would have burning oil or gas!

Thanks for the perspective here’s a few more pictures of this years scrounges. The huge red oak was one I had been watching for a couple of years, tree trimmers absolutely butchered it and killed it. Had been hoping as any hoarder it would end up with a free wood sign, it was even better with a let’s have a chainsaw party sign please help your self which about killed me. Logs were just from driving around after a storm

Welcome to posting on FHC Winston !

I love gathering/ cutting/ processing wood in the winter when you are actively burning. It's really satisfying.

Don't feel bad about the anti-social thing. Lots of us get that way from time to time. As for the wood, you look to be doing just fine. Keep on! It is great that there is little competition for wood in your area. All the better for you.

Thanks for the welcome, I heat with a Quadrafire voyager, cut with a MS 391, and split mostly with an X27, if it’s too much work I use the 25 ton champion
