Got some of those near me and then they want the town taxes to pay for access to their location

What really takes the cake is when one of them wants to cut your trees in order to install a grid tied solar array to cut their electrical cost instead of cutting their need. As I understood it, the answer was somewhere between never and when pigs fly.

San Fransisco. The 18 BV should have been about Jan. 15 of this year.

I’ve seen that crap. Had a neighbor cut down some nice mature trees for a solar install. :loco:

Here is something to ponder what happens if the trees shade the house and you have air conditioning installed?

I can answer that Bear you don't need the air conditioning or at least very rare and only in the bedroom to sleep upstairs, the downstairs stays nice and cool.

Ac was part of the package when I installed the system when we first moved here, granted it barely gets used its nice to have it if we were to have people over which never happens though.

WoW ! Poof most the snow is gone !
Dang Sump is running almost non-stop and I have water in the basement in areas where I never have except when the sump has failed. Some serious rain and snow melt combined like I have not seen in some time. Most of the back roads where flooded and was hitting standing water just about everywhere anywhere from 4" to 12" deep . Looks like its going to cool down tonight but nothing to drastic which is cool. Four warning Flash flood warning , 2 flood warnings, and a river flood warning.....

Tough day of meetings at work and man this is turning out to be one insanely tough job that has to figured out to execute. Suppose to start a couple of weeks ago but still so much to figure out and setup before starting and the client has become more than restless when in actuality they are responsible for many if not most of the delays. Oh well keep on grinding and get it going soon.
Was nice not to be running the stoves hard the last few days and it looks like we have a break for a short bit but some colder weather looms not far away.
Hope all are well and warm .

Spent most of the day working on the stove install, but I had to go out on a ladder to mess with the exhaust venting and I got a bit wet. Had to run for some high temp silicone and man were there puddles. The news calls it "ponding". Well, some of these were the size of small ponds!

I have a 200 year old house with a dirt basement and two sump pumps. They are both running non stop. Most of my snow is long gone!

Still plenty of snow here but also a lot of "seasonal" ponds, lakes and streams - my house is currently surrounded by such things and my garage was flooded when I got home last night. Sump pump has turned on a couple of times so I was glad I remember to place a long pipe on the water outlet to get it away from the house. Otherwise the water would be trapped by the snow backs that form from the metal roof dumping. However, I have to remember to pull that pipe before the next storm so it doesn't get buried.

Mine was iceless yesterday afternoon, but will probably be iced this morning. That's okay, today is an off Friday and I have lots of sand to take care of it and the paths.

Last storm I changed my ice cleats from stabilicer walk to the maxx. The walk have pads that are uncomfortable to walk on. The maxx are more expensive but you dont even know you have them on.

Just saw the maxx on ebay for 25.00....great deal if you need them. I paid 55 at LLbean.

EDIT-there is no size listed on the ebay listing. The size makes a big difference on the maxx.....

True but there is a difference between thin ice after rain and thick ice after a snow/rain event. The sun can take care of the thin stuff pretty quickly

Generally I dont like using sand on the driveway as what I can get has salt in it. I definitely dont want salt if at all possible.

Same here on the snow...still plenty. Luckily I dont have water issues around the house as I am on a hill. Only issue may be at the road if the culvert was snow blocked and not draining but that looks ok as well. I dredged the leaves again this past fall. Town use to do it but like a lot of things, they dont any more. Higher taxes and less service.

Never used any cleats - not that it wouldn't have been smart to have some at my last place where everything was a pretty good uphill (or downhill). Here isn't bad as it is flatish. And my women's "fashion" boots have nice grippy soles that do a lot better on slick stuff than my mountain climbing boots (actual mountain climbing boots) and even Sorrels. I use them for snow blowing because they do so well and keep my feet warm.

    boots.jpg boot soles.jpg

The soles don't look like much, but they grip and don't get clogged with stuff like mud, snow, rocks etc. They discontinued the line and I bought extras that I found online. I put one pair in my winter kit for the truck, have the pair I wear daily, and have another pair for when this pair wears out. Oh, and my first pair lasted for several years - which is how I found out they had been discontinued.

Just looked and the wind came form the "correct" direction last night and dried up most of the driveway. Paths have standing water/ice that have to be sanded, but won't take long.
