Honestly...it has had zero effect on me other than the articles about it dominating certain propagand...er..."news" outlets that I peruse.

Add me to the list of the unaffected. As in surprisingly no noticeable impact at all.

Those who have to work should be paid. Private industry can’t force work without pay and neither should any level of government.

Those who we haven’t needed for a month...makes you think about how big of a government do we as taxpayers actually need vs what those in Washington “need.”

    Exactly!

I'm not trying to play to one side or another. BOTH sides are the problem

Man you speak to truth rite there. Until the people stand up and take back this non sense will continue and all our fellow brothers and sisters will continue to suffer.
They aim to divide us and do a good job at it.

I've never understood politicians. They bicker worse than kindergarten kids... Let us say the stuff piles deep in Washington...

I would like to see all in Congress and all of their staff forfeit their pay and benefits during the shutdown. Those in the White House should also forfeit their pay and benefits. Neither group should get any back pay but a continuation of health care should exist. Maybe it is time for them to feel the pain of their inability to get their job done. I am not picking any sides at all. They are all to blame for this mess.

... yep... all fed shutdowns should automatically cut all pay for congress members... and guess what... there'd be no more shutdowns... :heidi:

No impact on me either. But as a state employee and teacher I can empathize with the idea of being a pawn in someone else’s game. I’m sure many of us can in some way. We are all pawns for those in positions above us. But not being paid while working is awful. You don’t want to quit what may be a perfectly good job otherwise, and probably has good benefits. The only debt I have is my mortgage, but I don’t think I could pay my weekly grocery bill for a family of 6 for very long, let alone my utilities. I better stop before I get started. Our federal government is a mess, my state government is a mess. I can at least take some solace that my town is at least fiscally responsible.

    Agree.
This thread has held a civil tone, and thankfully the mods have been understanding.
This is a topic that touches the lives specifically of some of our members, true. And no doubt the larger part of contributing members will do something in the worst case scenario for our affected FHC folks.

But let us tread lightly here, as violation of the rules is already at play.

Not downing this discussion, just asking for continued restraint.
That’s fair and appreciable of FHC, correct?

We care for each other here on this forum, in a way unparalleled on the interwebs at large. Let’s carry on this way.

Won't comment on the politics. Haven't been affected myself, won't be unless my tax return is held up (always get a refund.) I will say I am upset to see rank and file gov't employees go with out pay. That's a shame.

I think they have enough money now....having no pay would not effect 95% or more of them. Nothing more on both sides other than a power trip....

I did not realize that asking if anyone was effected by the shutdown was against the rules. I will ask a mod to lock it Thanks for bringing that to my attention.

Tom, what you asked isn't against forum policy. But when a discussion evolves, it's going to branch out into the fringe areas. I don't think there's anything wrong with showing displeasure of any governing agency, as long as it doesn't end up dividing the members here, which hasn't happened.

It won't be long before our fearless leaders are back to singing their version of Kumbaya and all will be back to normal:thumbs::zip::yes:

Rope Moderating will call notify moderators.

I personally thought that we were doing a pretty good job of self moderating this particular thread.

I think it's kind of borderline but I do not think you broke a rule by bringing up a topic that could affect a lot of people..

:salute: for trying to play by rules and not give mods a lot of work.

As long as it stays "civil" and grenades are not thrown, were OK! I for one am affected in this shut down and will not recieve another retirement/pay check. I will not say one way or another on who or what is right but I will say, "I'm OK" with it!!! *EDIT* so some may know, I'm retired USCG. Department of Homeland Security. "Nope", No pay!
