11 here now, I don't know what the overnight low was. We were gone from afternoon on yesterday, and didn't get back till late. I didn't relight so the house is mighty cold this AM. The Mrs. burned some oil for 1/2 hr earlier to kill the chill. I lit the stove @ 9:00 with Oak. Iat is now up to 60

I like that the storm is going to miss us, or so they think right now. Less than an inch suits me just fine.

Birch and Beech. Inside 70°F, outside 33.8°F and slushy snow - within the next few hours supposed to be around 23°F/-5°C.
I hope it stays cold so i can start cutting trees along the pastures.

Not too bad tonight, mid to low 30’s tonight. I grabbed more black cherry. It did pretty good last night. House was still 70 this morning, but the stove had cooled down enough by the time I was up the fan was off and the coals were not enough for a relight.

I will say the one thing I dont like about cherry, you end up with charcoal, not ash.

I try not to burn cherry by itself. I like to mix ash or something similar with it. It seems to burn the charcoal up that way. 32 here with a low of 25. Planning on cutting some hickory in the morning before the storm hits

CFF63C00-8635-449D-A6DD-AF7D5F64DEA3.png It’s above zero, it’s been below for so long I lost count of haw many days it’s been. Happy to see some warmth. The stove burns less, wood pile will last a bit longer.

Currently 3°F heading down another degree for a low tonight. Temps will recover nicely tomorrow before this 2-3 feet of snow gets here, then cold again. Burning all birch

29F here with a dusting of snow. Cleaned the boiler out this morning & only left enough coals to relight it. Cold coming this weekend so it'll get it's first workout of the year. I may turn the second heat ex changer on if it goes below zero. Kinda curious to see if I'll need to load a double row in for the overnight. My guess is wind will be more a factor than air temp. Stay tuned.

We can try to send you some!  It’s looking like a couple feet here with high winds through Monday so it’s gonna be fun. A good old fashioned blizzard  I’m just glad we’re not getting rain or freezing rain. I’ll take the blowing snow any time.
13 OAT and 75 inside still on coals so far. High of 30 predicted today will be a nice little break if we get it. It’s been running several degrees below the predictions the last few days. The morning commute storm predicted for today is a flop so we’ll be waiting until tomorrow night for the big event. Thankfully it’s happening over a holiday weekend for some at least. Monday morning should be interesting. Glad the wife works from home on Monday.
Good luck to all our FHC friends in the path of the storm southwest of here. You’ll be getting it cranked up for us, and we’ll be handing it off to our friends in New Brunswick, who often get it worse than we do. Eh, Hammy?

21° here, but headed into the 30's during the day. I'll bring some black locust into the basement, other than that I'm pretty much set for the storm. I won't have to drag wood from the shed for a long time.
I keep hoping for some last-minute yard cleanouts to hit the dump, but so far it hasn't happened. Goodbye back yard, it sorta feels like the end of summer vacation.

It might not last too long with the rain predicted for later next week. Crazy winter.

Can hardly believe the temp this morning, no more long johns for now. Loving the weather, just wish I was off. Supposed to be -20 for my days off Tuesday and Wednesday. Alaska never disappoints. 83B9194B-C38F-440D-BF4D-1129739EC379.png 98522249-0B13-4E32-A549-336DD460CC85.png

Not bad out right now, but it looks like the boiler is going to get its first real work starting tomorrow...the temperature is supposed to get close to zero and the wind will be 10-20, gusting to 30.
