I keep hearing how much more economical having a diesel vs gas pick up is? After paying big $$$$$ for the option, and now added dollars for the cost of DEF you'd need to be driving better than 100,000 miles a year to make it cost effective.
Yeah I'm not so sure they are worth it any more . Kinda like Bimmers that are nice to own while they are under warrantee and BMW is picking up the tab for maintenance and problems.
That was probably me pumping the gas! Always offered to check the oil too! Slant six was a tired engine.....thats why it was leaning over!
Still nobody has matched or beat the best price I've ever paid for gas and that was $.079 (that's basically .08 per gallon!). I also remember when I was with my mother and remember her hollering because gas went to .20 per gallon and oil was then .20 per quart. Mother was still driving the family model A at the time.
I worked at a Holiday gas station when I was in collage and remembver many young me coming in a buying a dollars worth of gas and that would get them thru the weekend.
We had an M6 for a short period of time. Fun car, but had issues with steering lock and transmission pump but extended warranty covered most of that. The kicker was when we got a check engine light and they said $15,000 kid you not. Said the catalytic converters out and warranty would not cover it. I did some checking and found the car was 2 days from going out of emission warranty, but still cost us $1,500 for sensors. Could not get rid of that car fast enough. $1.949 here for cheap gas today.
I barely remember our model T as I was pretty young but I do remember it. How many remember the OO-GA horn? I used to be able to make that sound and people loved it.
Just filled up a new (to me) truck. I paid 1.999 at Sam's club in southeast Michigan. Most other places are 2.30. It was a nice change from me filling up my large diesel. Maybe half or two-thirds cheaper !
And sadly we're kind of happy about $3.50/gal. It's been coming down lately. My son filled up for about $3.20/gal the other day. Far cry from when we were paying over $5/gal not to long ago. .
