Got a full stack by the stove, and the dog had the fire in his eyes. Love my pooch and dry firewood. I just wish the heat would travel throughout the whole house so the wife would stop whining....The only way I can get the whole house heated is load the stove up every 3 hours and run it full bore. Even then it takes about 24 hours to get everything to 68 degrees....I have 2 fans running and the stove fan going...time to start cutting some vents.
Run a fan full time over both shop heat ex changers & ceiling fan in the house. Keeps the air temp steady at 70 in shop & 75 in house. Weather man is threatening us now, we'll see.
4 fans. One on the stove that clicks on at 450 degrees. A ceiling fan in the living room to help draw the warm air in from the stove. One to help push the warm air upstairs and a ceiling fan upstairs in the office to help pull the air into it and the upstairs master bedroom. If you could see the layout of this home and what I have to do you'd cringe.
Wow! You did not add 0 to your poll. We can heat our house with no fans. But most times we do have a ceiling fan on low speed. Sometimes we forget. The only difference it makes is that without the ceiling fan, if I am sitting at the computer it does get a bit warm. Otherwise, the radiant heat we get from the soapstone stove really keeps the whole house warm. I might add that for those trying to move heat with a fan, don't make the mistake that I used to. Never try to move the warm air into the cool air; it just does not work. But if you move some cool air toward the warm air; bingo! With our old stove we had the problem of trying to keep the far rooms warm but we tried moving the warm air. Switch to using a small desktop fan on low speed, sitting on floor of hallway with air blowing toward the stove room and it was amazing how quickly the warm air got to the far rooms. Seems backwards but it works great.
The temp of the wood never gets above 90 degrees...you can put your hand on that side of my stove. There is a thick airspace in the wall of the stove.
It's been below freezing for some time , have an outdoor stove and windows open for air partially, only fan is if wind blows
